I was thinking more along the lines of the rear axle casting and the top link casting. Any appreciable weight on the hitch ball will put a lot of strain on the lower lift arm mounting points and the top link point and both of them pin to castings.

Being careful would/should be ok but a heavy load on that hitch ball could crack the castings.

I'd look in the owners manual and see the maximum load the lift arms are rated for and not exceed that.
