975 hours...I'm guessing it's because we added tubes to the front tires...instead of breaking the bead on the tire this happened...as my friend said...you reinforce one thing and something else in the chain will break...

this looks as if the machine was dragged sideways, looking at how the rim is sheared away......

aint no tube or whatever caused that !

Not 100 percent sure of the circumstances... neighbor was borrowing the tractor and was grappling brush piles. He drove into town and bought a new rim and tire.

Maybe an accumulation of actions that added up to the failure and the neighbor was the straw that broke the camels back?

What does the other rim look like?

Looking at this a little closer........

THIS would be a hellva lot of stress....not sure how it could be done and NOT know something was wrong!

Maybe the loader was full of material and a sharp turn was attempted going a too fast and wheel separated from the bolts.

No matter how it happened it has absolutely nothing to do with tubes installed.

No matter how it happened it has absolutely nothing to do with tubes installed.
If I was going that fast with a load in the bucket.....I would have another bucket load - real fast!!!!:p

Feel lucky that the rim broke. It could have been something more serious, more expensive and much harder to fix.

That's what I was wondering as well. If some of the lug nuts were loose, with weight in the bucket and a turn. Maybe something putting some force on the side of the tire at the same time. :confused:

I am really having trouble imagining a failure caused by anything else. The tubes in the tires while not the cause may not be just coincidental.

Tubing a tire will not cause a tire to break, it's the same pressure and force as just putting air in the tire!
look at the picture of the inside of the rim, the 2 halves of the rim is not separated.

This kind of failure is a stress failure from turning hard, turning fast, turning and hitting objects that don't move, turning on a hard surface with a load on the tires.

If you look at the picture of the hub, you can see rust on the outside edges of the breaks just outside the lug bolts.
I'm also betting if he looks on the other rim he will see the same cracks.

The only wheel I have seen break like this was on an old beater Toyota truck rock crawler. I was not well maintained, had rolled several times, & the rims were already cracked. The final straw was being dragged sideways through a boulder field with a 10,000lb winch. The resulting failure was virtually identical.

I didn't explain myself well enough, my point was: If the wheels were recently removed to install tubes they may not have been properly torqued back on. The front wheels on the BX2370 call for 110 to 132 ft-lbs, anything less would certainly expedite the type of failure you described.

You are supposed to check the tire and fell bolts every 50 or so.
The rust pointed out by niw shows that they were loose at one time cracked and rusted out.
So the poor neighbor was the unlucky one to have it break on him as the camel was overloaded and he was the last straw.

So everyone neds to check their bolts tonight.

I am not a metallurgist......but looking at the original picture of the rim, notice that this is a two piece rim that is "welded" or fastened together, the RUST is between the plates, this must have been in wet situation at one time, and as far as the bolts, if they were loosened, even a 1/8 off the rim, not sure the damage would be the same. The bolts look snug, then again hard to "see" if they are or not. Could this be a manufacturing "defect" - ok, maybe not, but the force needed to do this is extreme - you WOULD have to have a bucket full, and then head down a hill, cut the wheel very hard to have this happen.
