We recently bought a used L3430HST. After about 10 hours use we ran out of fuel, due to a faulty fuel gauge - (said we still had more than a 1/4 tank). After watching the orange tractor video we were able to bleed the system and get it running again, we also changed the fuel filter. Now the tractor randomly stalls, sometimes after a few minutes, sometimes not for an hour or more. Should we bleed it again? Are there any other parts we could have damaged when we ran out of fuel? Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

Maybe your gauge is OK, but you ran out of fuel because something is restricting the fuel line.

Sounds like you have something in the tank or lines. Can you check tank to determine if grass, rag or other trash is in there?

Thanks We did look into the tank when it ran out of fuel and could see the bottom of the tank was empty, didn't notice anything else. But we are wondering the same thing - if there is bubbles or some sort of debris in the system. Is there any other part in the system that could be getting plugged besides the filter. It seems to just starve out for fuel, then we need to give it full throttle to get it started again.

Make sure the vent to the fuel tank isn't stopped up. Sometimes a bad fuel cap will cause the tank not to vent properly or the vent line can be stopped up. When it starts to stall, open the cap and see if it continues on. You may hear air sucking into the tank.
