I have a blown hst. The rebuilders are telling me between 1200 and 2000 to fix. I can buy a standard trany and diff assembly for 300. I just want to know if its do-able. Any thoughts

Assuming the bolt up (splines, bolts, etc.) are the same on the same model, then yeah, the back end of a B7100DT with a blown engine would work just fine... :D

But your floor, pedals, shifter controllers, etc. are all different so you are basically swapping the back end of the tractor.

He's selling me basicaly the steering box back. The part numbers for shafts and splines are the same.Just wondering about stuff like plumbing for hydraulics as the hst will be gone.

Spend the $2000 and you'll be money and time ahead.

Yeah most of us have to hang on to a buck as tight as we can, but in this case, unless your a really good Mech or gear head and love to tinker, I have to go along with Ray on this, I would think by the time you get it all working right your going to have that much tied up in it and more down time than you may really want to worry about,,, Just MHO

If you're going to switch I'd say don't buy it. Way too much work. Fix the hydrostat, or buy something else.

Thanks for the reply's guy's. Iam a automotive mechanic so it doesn't scare me I was fishing to see if anyone had any experience at it. I have located a used hst for 900 with 30 day waranty. So it looks like it stays hst. I disasembled the old one and it had broken the swash plate and eaten all the brass from the pistons so it was not rebuildable acording to local hydraulic shop.
