anyone out there with a l4200gst that can tell me what color wire is going to the ig plug on alternator. plug was cut off. either a red with blue stripe or a white with red stripe. 2 wire plug and alternator is marked IG. kubota dealers no help. ty.

Do you have the plug end?
If not, it will still look like that on the alternator end.
If not, it will still look like that on the alternator end.

now I'm confused. diagram you sent looks like red wire goes to IG but plug looks like white one does.

That diagram (picture) is of the plug end, if you notice the orientation of the plug can not be changed, the one blade is vertical and the other meets it in the center horizontally.

I PM'ed you a link for the manual.
It's pretty simple to know if the wiring is working:
B+ will be battery direct (via starter solenoid, or terminal block) connection to the battery.
The IG is just that it will have battery + voltage on it when the switch is turned on.
The L is for a light it will have not have a measurable voltage as it's a floating point that the alternator feed voltage to to make the light work or not.
If you have power to B+ and to IG then it will charge if it needs to.
