Tractor is in shop for busted axle (see other thread for sad story) but there is water in diff lube.

The diff was rebuilt a couple of months ago when vandals put rocks in it.

It had water in it then but I assumed it came from the vandals, but now there is water in the new fluid.

How could it get there?

Did they not get it all out the first time they rebuilt it?
Could it get in from being rained on? (I've tried to keep it under a shed but it may have been caught out once or twice.)

Haven't been in a creek, etc.

Shifter boot is in fair shape.

What else should I check?:confused::confused:

When you say "water" do you mean huge amounts? or do you mean the fluid is "milky".

If the latter, it's likely all the water was not removed previously if you've not exposed the unit to rain, pressure-washer, etc.

Yep very possible they didn't get all the water out of the system.
I also suspect they didn't do the rebuild right, because rocks in the diff can cause issues but nothing in there it shouldn't have broken another axle!
