I need to replace the battery bracket on my L275. It's rusted well beyond repair. I'd imagine that it is a common part among many different models. I did an ebay search for L275 battery bracket, but nothing came up. A quick look on Messicks didn't return anything either. Any recommendations where to look?

Your local autoparts store will likely also sell battery trays and hold downs. I didn't worry about getting the specific OEM part for my L245.

Not sure which part you are refering to, but if it is the tray, I could not find one for my L1500 (L175).

You can try salvage yards like west Kentucky tractor salvage.

I did find one for my L185 but the dealer located it at some other dealers stock and I had to contact them to buy it directly.

You can probably just have a fabricator make a new one or fix the one you have. On mine the side supports were ok, it was the pan that was basically gone and needed to be replaced

It's item #6, battery support, that I need. Worse comes to worst, I can just clean up what's left of it and weld on what I need to make it work. The bracket going up to hold the air cleaner is half shot as well. This is the only area with rust to this extent. Battery electrolyte must have leaked out at some point.

Nice fabrication job, too bad you couldn't get stainless steel. I made a tray from 1/8" steel and painted it with POR 15... Will see if it lasts. I found an OEM angle iron battery "hold down" and bought it. The powder coat flaked off in less than 3 months... I wonder if Aluminum would be an alternative?

The battery acid fumes are very hard on any metal, or paint product.

Bill, when you can re-purpose a cash box into a battery box with counter pressed holes, you get credit for making it from scratch. Good work, for sure.
