Howdy. I am thinking about purchasing a 1984 b5200. It has some blowby, and will probably need rebuilding in the future. I am trying to figure out the cost of an engine rebuild, but I can't find any sleeves. Do the cylinder sleeves come out of these engines or will it just need piston rings most likely? I'm looking for a project tractor and I think this tractor might be a good one. Thanks!

Can someone please confirm that this engine has no sleeves? Has anyone rebuilt one of these engines? I don't want to buy the tractor if I can't fix the blowby issue. Thanks!

I operate a b7200 with "some blow by." Uses zero oil between changes. Oil consumption would worry me more than blow-by. I figure they wouldn't put on a breather tube to let out the blow-by if there wasn't suppose to be some.
Without seeing it I can't say if it has a worrisome amount.

The b5200 has dry sleeves that are replaceable. They are not finished sleeves and must be bored to the proper size after installation.

Thanks Ed and Birddogger. I too am more concerned about oil consumption, I but would still like the option to put sleeves in if need be. Ed, do you know a good place to order the sleeves? Thanks for the help!

You may not need to install new liners.

Kubota usually offers oversize pistons. You might want to check it out.

Good luck!
