I bought a Kubota L-3800 with the HST on 08/01/2012. Now, on 08/07/2012 after a total of 7.2 hours the thing is in the shop for at least 4 days while they repair a broken piece that engages the the 4WD. The dealer was horrified that I had a problem and even offered to give me a set of chains for the rear of the rotary mower to compensate me for the inconvenience. Has anyone else had a similar problem??

That's the first complaint I've heard about the 4wd fouling up on the L3800's. Dont let this little set back discourage you. It sounds like you have a fantastic dealer who is stepping up the the plate and fixing the problem for you and are willing to give you a little extra compensation for your problems. That in itself speaks volumes because we have several members on here who complain about their local dealers not really giving a damn about them and their needs after the sale, either new or used.

I agree with Eric. There isn't a piece of machinery made that can't break, even when new. It happens, regardless of the manufacturer. The difference is how it's dealt with, and it sounds like your dealer is first-rate. Except for this, how do you like your tractor?
And welcome to OTT.

What they said, problems can crop up with anything mechanical and I have had them with different brands.

I wouldn't worry about it at all. It is real nice that the dealer is throwing in chains, that is something that normally wouldn't happen!

The only yellow tractor that comes to mind is Caterpillar but its not tractorish it a skid steer, and besides that they make damn fine equipment.

I have had my fair share of warranty issues. I will still take Kubota over any other brand.
