RTV starter spins but won't engage

Hi Folks,
Tried to start RTV today after winter storage, battery is right up, starter spins but won't turn engine over...like an old fashioned starter that needs a good whack! Is there an override to lift dump box without hydraulics/engine running?

Push the Raise-Lower lever forward past Lower into Float position and lift the bed by hand. You will have to use the cylinder safety stop to hold it up. Once you get it running just raise the bed on up with the hydraulics, remove the stop and lower with the lever.

Hey, Whitetiger good to see you on the forum. Been working too hard? Thought I might see you at the get together in Bonner Springs, but I got side tracked. I was just going for the food, don't need a mower or tractor!!

Time to lift the bed and play 'wack-a-mole' with the starter, sounds like the bendix is sticking. Good wack with a brass hammer should do the trick.

It's likely that the gear clutch has failed.

Cold/Solidified grease on the starter/Bendix will prevent the gear from sliding into engagement. Lubricate thoroughly with light oil (WD40 or better yet WD40-GEL will likely fix the problem.)

I did not even know when the Bonner store had their open house. I was out the Smithville one though!!!!

Since when does one not need another tractor or mower?????????

You would have thought he would at least get the Mrs an RTV, you know, something she could enjoy and he could borrow.

Guys, I can not afford to own a RTV. I have an '09 Polaris Ranger and the yearly tax for it in this county is $184. I can't imagine what a new RTV would be taxed!

Permatex RTV is about 2 bucks a tube at NAPA......

You think $184.00 is bad, wait until AOC gets done with us and you have to convert it and all your equipment to solar power and pay your fair share of $65,000.00 a year tax!!!!

I can hardly wait! I already own an Electric garden tractor ( Electrak) and love it! Electric is way better.

If it's listed with the county as farm use there is no tax. All other items, side by side, boat, trailers, boat motors, plus anything used for business like trencher and trencher trailer...all get taxed!

What I did discover is I can go to the county where we have a farm and transfer the ownership to that address. They look on their appraisal photos to confirm it is a farm (they saw cows and hay) and no questions asked.

Now legally, to do that they told me it had to be on that property on Jan 1. (but they're usually closed then). So I need to use it to check cattle and fence...
