Hey all- I'm looking at buying a L2501 with loader in the next few months and I'm here to learn everything I can before I buy it. I have a few acres in southern Utah and I'm buying to maintain my property and the 1.5 miles of dirt road to my property. So, I'm going to be buying it with a loader and box scraper initially. Probably a tiller and disc later on down the road.

Anyway, the forum looks great and I'm looking forward to learning from all of you!

Welcome to the OTT forum Steve. You sure came to the right place to get answers for any question.

Sounds like you have a good idea on what you need. A box blade is a good investment for maintaining roads and also for leveling small areas.

Steve, welcome to the forum. Maintaining 1 1/2 miles of road is a project! I go up the road a mile to snag a round bale of hay every once in a while. I use an L4240 to do that, and I can't imagine maintaining that much road with a smaller tractor.

I'm sure there are many variables in frequency and amount of work to be done. Surely someone who does that will give you a better idea of equipment suggested.

And, by the way, the more comments you receive to more expensive you ordeal becomes!:D

An interesting thought. In Kansas the entire state is criss-crossed with roads every mile going both directions. Therefore it is nearly impossible to have a road to your property longer than one mile.

Welcome to the forum Steve, lot's of good info here. I also have a long driveway (1 mile) so I can tell you you'll be putting in a little seat time. Myself I prefer a back blade over a box blade but both are great tools and will get the job done. Just remember the search button is your friend and don't be scared to ask, a lot of knowledgeable people here that are very helpful. Good luck with your new tractor.
