I am going to fab up something similar to this to keep grapple hoses out of a bind, but open to other solutions. I'm not paying $60 for a spring attached to a 2" square plate. What have you done lately?

Len,

would a long piece of flat aluminum bent like a Z work? It would allow movement back and forth at the top much like a spring. Create a fork at the top to allow the hoses to be trapped in the fork and some sort of holding pin -(so the hoses could come out if need be)

I need something pretty flexible, I think. The ridgid mount I question. From what I've read in reviews, the spring needs to be fairly tall and firmly connected to the hoses.

Somewhere in my stash of misc. I have a set of springs that was used in one of those signs you use to see for advertising. They had a base and two springs to allow for the wind to move them, I guess. If I can find one of them it would be a good start.

85Hokie, present this problem to your "trouble makers" and see if their creative minds can generate some ideas. Put their energy to good use!

Sidecar, I apologize for the tractor. It's the only picture I could find with some kind of spring gizzmo on a tractor to give folks an idea to get them thinking. I even went to the site that sells that particular item and could not find it there.

The hoses require quite a bit of movement through the arc of the grapple movement. I guess that's why folks say the spring needs to be "so" tall.

Here’s mine that I fabricated. The springs were found at ACE, pipe was 7/8” electrical conduit, stop collar from a bearing supply house, hose clamps from House of Hose. Angled the tube, welded the clamp, spray pained the end, cut one end of the spring loop and bolted it to the grapple. This really keeps the hose up & out of the way. The pipe sits inside the spring and it never comes out on its own.

Sean, that's well though out, simple and easy to source parts, and by your video works like you'd expect. Thanks.
