Need direction
The gauge stopped reading accurately. If I fill up it may go to quarter tank. After using a while it goes to empty but the tank may still be half full. Only has 150 hours. Could a bounce or jar cause it to have gotten stuck or broken something? Not sure how the float system is designed. Also I guess it’s a pain to get to and repair?
Thank you

First direction:
You would get alot better answers if you included the entire model # including the letters. ;)

Usually when they start reading wonky, it's a grounding issue. Especially if it's a single wire to the sending unit. There's usually a gasket around the sending unit, then the mounting bolts ground the sending unit to the tank if it's metal.

There could also be corrosion somewhere in a quick connect on the wiring harness that's causing the issue as well.

I have not been into an M6.

I have been into a bunch of M-40's.

The sending unit assembly is made of some sort of metal, and for those tractors that sit a lot, they tend to get corrosion on the sending unit. Only fix is replacement. Keep in mind that this applies to the M-40's which I'm familiar with as well as the L series and B & BX series. M6 I do not know, nor will I. Local dealer is not an M6 or M7 dealer and they won't fit in my shop, so I can't work with them.
