I bought a Stumpblaster 3p24 a couple years ago and put it behind a 37hp/30hp PTO. I grind stumps professionally but wanted an easy way to cleanup when done. (front loader)
This machine was rated at 30-50hp at PTO. My tractor at the time, being at the low end did a sufficient job but I had to get more efficient so I bought a 60/50hp. I also redesigned and made my own wheel. The factory wheels are ok but are poorly made and don't last long. The factory wheels had 2 sets of effective cutting teeth, they ran out both laterally and radially so you weren't actually using all the teeth, and the configuration on the periphery would not allow you to plunge straight down into a root to start a cut. My new wheel address all those problems, has 3 sets of teeth and is made of much better material.
Would I buy a Stumpblaster for home use? Sure. It's a good concept. Don't expect to use it professionally as is, it won't compete with the Vermeers or Carltons. Just my opinion.
Any chance you could post a picture of your wheel? Would love to see your concept.

does a real nice job for those of us with home set ups & no rear live hydro.

Sure, here you go. It's world class now. On the MX5800 I can compete with the big boys plus nothing like having a seat on your stump grinder.:p

The painted one is a new factory wheel, the raw one is mine. Now after 6 months use, it shows virtually no wear after grinding hundreds of stumps.

Those teeth look very interesting! As you are looking at the wheel, does it turn CW or CCW?

Turns CW. 3 sets of 9 teeth cover about 6" plus 2 at 30 deg front and back and 3 at 45 deg front and back and 2 on diameter. Takes 3/4" wide teeth w/5/8" threaded stem.

Shocks for my stump grinder to compensate for some of the odd contours and roots I have to set the stabilizer base on while grinding. Helps to take some of the shake and rocking out while grinding. Don't mind the color, they'll get dirty.

you have a big enough tractor that you can take some of the rockin & jumping & deal with it with your stabilizer set up.

pretty cool!

for us guys on small tractors, if we get too heavy in the bite with the grinder?

its like riding a rodeo bull. LMAO
