OK guys I wasn't drinking today at all, but coming back from Moms one of those little SUVs passed going the other way,, and something caught my eye  He/she had a read blade mounted from what it looked like in the trailer hitch. Since there was traffic I couldn't get a good look.. Anybody seen anything like this

Yea they sell them up here, they are Snowsport aluminum plows.
IMHO they are a joke for our conditions.
I guess they would work fine for really light snow areas.
They can be mounted front or back off of a receiver hitch.

That's actually pretty dang cool. As long as you tackle it 4-6" at a time you should be in great shape. Probably cheaper than a good thrower! Wonder what is does when it comes in contact with the driveway! Probably an inch or so give in the hitch mount...

I bet they are aluminum because in steel one person can't move it come Summer!

For a coupla years, I had a jeep cj5 with a meyer blade on the front, and another one just like it on the back. Worked great, for something I just cobbled up from old parts. It's greatest advantage was you could plow till you spun out one way, and then drop the rear plow, and do it again. And you could charge coming and going...:D

DIY,

I was thinking exactly that: Clearing parking lots or driveways could be really quick with a blade at each end!

There is one here in our town that looks like a full size front plow mounted on the rear of a truck and is a puller arrangement with all the needed framework rising up and over and back down behind the blade, even has power angle and lift as I remember. Thought about stopping and checking it out in detail a 100 times but never have...

I've seen a couple of these for sale recently. The reason they're aluminum
is they don't have a lifting mechanism and it's light so the owner can pick it
up then lock it upright when not in use. They make one for the front the same way, no lift just drag it back and forth. That's why they're for sale real
disappointing pos. LOL!

Several mfg's make really good units that use the Reese style hitch for the
hook up then have electric pumps to run the cylinders. Those are slick and
usually used like a back or box blade for pulling snow away from buildings
etc then use the front blade to push it out of the way. Cats ass in town doing residential driveways in tight places which so many are.
