Hello all,

$6700.00????? Seems crazy

I recently had the clutch on my M6800SDT go out. I called the local kubota dealer where the tractor was purchased to pick it up and take it in for service. The pedal just quit, no resistance at all and no clutch.
I called today to see if they had an estimate and the service rep told me they had the tractor split in half and the flywheel would probably need to be replaced.
Gives me an estimate of $6718.00
I figured it would be a few $ but 7k for a clutch.
Does this sound correct?
I am shocked they never asked if I wanted the service, just started tearing it down and then tell me it $6.7k to get back.

I am beyond frustrated

Jason

Sounds way too high to replace clutch to me. Back when I was a dealer service manager we sent flywheels to machine shop for resurfacing. I seriously doubt your tractors original flywheel isn't reusable. About 8 or 9 yrs ago I had the sync-shuttle replaced in my M4900 which required a split between engine & clutch housing at a dealership & that cost me $2000

Tx Jim,

Right! I was expecting $2-3k max. The clutch assembly is $718 on messicks maybe another $200 for bearings and seals. They have 2 clutch assembly's listed in estimate with same part number 3A261-25133. When I told them I was going to have to pass they are now telling me it is already split in half and it will be $1700 to get it back not fixed. They said the 2nd clutch is for PTO. I swear these dealerships are crooks. They picked it up on July 2nd and never even called to tell me what was wrong. I called them yesterday to see if they got a chance to look at it, and they tell me this. Is it normal practice for a dealer to start 7k in repairs without consent?

I am sick to my stomach.

Different dealerships have different ways of transacting business. When I served as service manager I would have never initiated repairs without tractor/equipment owners prior approval. $1700 sounds outrageous price to me to split/rejoin halves of 70 HP tractor. That amount @ $110 per hr would be over 15 hrs labor for splitting/rejoining. Does your tractor have cab or open station? My M4900 was cab model with some bolts that were a little difficult to access to remove. If it was my tractor I think I'd have my attorney contact them.

It is a cab tractor. Claimed he had to split it to see what was broken/damaged. He is telling me it typically costs $4-5k. This does not even sound reasonable. A new OEM clutch full assembly is $700.

Thanks,
Jason
