Well as I've not been too successful at eliciting any comments on my TLB questions, and my search for past forum posts shows zero, let's try a "shout out" to any RTV 1140 CPX owners or knowledgeable UTV drivers/users.

I was curious what your thoughts are on this UTV?

Things you absolutely love?

Things you absolutely hate?

What do you use it for?

Favorite accessory?

Assuming emperor o doesn't take all my money come April 15, I was thinking strongly about getting one of these for my wife to haul stuff down to the boat dock and for me to haul firewood, rock, top soil, ect. Very rocky and hilly country here in the Ozark mountains and with us having 3 kids, there's always a chance 4 seats will be needed....this appears to be the ideal setup but thought I'd ask the group here for their thoughts.

Not a good sign......"crickets".....I just drove one today with the wife and both of us thought they were pretty tough and would be perfect for use as a house to boat dock vehicle....would still love to hear from any fellow 1140 CPX owners.

I haven't personally drove one, but the use them in the railroad yards as utility vehicles. This time of year they leave them running 24-7, and beat the crap out of them. They seem pretty tough and reliable, about the only problems they have with them are flats....spikes are hard on tires!

Oh, welcome to the site fellow show me stater!

I have the RTV 900 not he 1140, but am very pleased with it, I added the roof a windshield and put clear plexi for a rear window, also a mirror and winch. They are virtually indestructible, Go anywhere, dependable vehicles. Unlike a lot of other side by sides they are built more like a tractor, no plastic bed etc. I have towed a 6000lb travel trailer on flat ground with no problem, hauled more dirt and rock at a time than a Ford Ranger would carry. Only thing is they are not fast, but will get the job done.
Advice: get the snorkel kit to move the air intake up above the dust, air filter gets real dirty very quick other wise, I made my own out of pvc, makes a big difference...
They are more of an industrial vehicle than the other side by sides, built for work.

Thanks for the replies. When my wife and I went to drive this unit, she noticed small amounts of rust in various crevices and spots on the RTV and where it appeared the dealer had previously attempted to "touch up" those spots.

She's more picky than I am, but is it common to see a 1.1 hour machine already showing surface rust?

I also found out from the dealer that because of the folding of the box from short to long mode, a spray in LineX liner isn't possible. I'm imagining after moving a few tons of rock each scratch starting to rust and my wife having a fit......I know, sound rediculous, but if mamma ain't happy, no one is happy....

Any 1140 CPX owners who have successfully applied LineX that can share photos? Is this a lemon vehicle and should I insist on a different one without surface rust problems?

Well its your money but were it I, they would be ordering a new one or another one off the floor,, Around here they set out all year long at the dealer ship so I would think some fading and maybe some surface rust might happen. If you aint happy remember he aint the only game in town, there are posts on here about people buying from other dealers out of state and saved money even with the shipping included, and your local dealer has to honor the warranty as well. Just MHO

thanks for all the replies.....unless I can figure out a way to protect the bed, I'm guessing, what appears to be a perfect vehicle in all other aspects, won't be sitting in my garage anytime soon.....(they've got a plastic liner, but not sure how that works with a changing bed size).
