I'm trying to add a 2 spool valve to my B2400 and I'm having trouble finding fitting that would thread into the case for the return circuit.

Here's What I'm working on.

The upper case fill plug is located on the left of the case just behind the HST damper.

And here is the plug I removed from the case.

If anyone could snap a pic if they have that fitting or if anyone knows a part number that would help a lot!
I believe this should be the same on any B1700, B2100 or B2400.

The fitting you need is a Male O-ring boss BSPP fitting.

Some of the more modern fittings meeting the BSP spec now have the O ring integral with the head of the fitting not separate.

Since posting this I've come to realize that's what I needed. Thanks!

Called my local dealer and he couldn't help me.
Maybe I wasn't asking the right questions?
He said "my info gives me no spec on the plug" (size, thread pitch) his description just says "plug"

Funny thing is... when I put a thread pitch gauge on the plug (the one in the pic) no metric threads match up.
Thought the 1.5mm would be the one, it's real close, but a standard 19 thread pitch is bang-on.
I assume the 19 fit's because it's the funky BSPP thread?

I bought a hydraulic selector valve which came with BSP threads. The less knowledgeable staff at our local hydraulics place twice gave me fittings which would physically fit but leaked.

Finally, I got the owner involved and ended up with the proper fitting. Leaks stopped.

A lot of thread pitches and diameters are very close but only the correct one will properly do the job.

Ya... I came across the Ryco site and saw the chart.

The "plug" is at least 13-15mm across on the threads (didn't put calipers on it) and is no where near a 14 in pitch. Hex head is a 19mm.

Actually looking at the chart again I saw the 3/8"-19 has a OD size of 16.5mm. I guess the BSPP I need is a 3/8"? (If I'm reading that chart correctly.

The "plug" is back in the tractor again. I'll have to pull it and put some calipers on it to confirm.

UPDATE

Finally got around to getting the fitting I needed.
As others had said, a BSPP fitting is what was required.

The size is a 3/8"-19 BSPP.

I actually got a 3/8" BSPP to 3/8" JIC fitting. I picked one up at my local Princess Auto for $2.99.
Also picked up a JIC cap ($1.29) as I'm not ready to connect the lines yet.

Fitting part #8619025. Cap part # 1293869

The plug and new fitting OD measure the same, 16.5mm and the thread pitch are both 19.

I took the sealing washer off the plug and transferred it to the new BSPP fitting.

Then just screwed it back into the HST case where the plug used to be.

I'll update once I get the hydraulic lines made up and connected.

Update

Finally got my lines made up and connected.

Good news, after connecting and testing...everything works as it should!

Here are a few pic's of the process.

I made three hard lines. One for the return to the tank (pictured) and two that that come off the hydraulic block.
Here are the tools used to make the hard lines.
All lines are 3/8" with 37* double flares for the JIC fitting's.

Return line connects to a port on right side of HST case

The return line bent to tuck it up out of the way from snagging anything as well as keeping clear of the forward/reverse linkage.

then run up toward the front of the tractor

As seen, it comes up just to the rear of the fuel filter.

With the front wheel maxed out on it's turning radius there is plenty of clearance between the line and the front tire.

the lines from the new hydraulic block. closest line is the feed to the spool valve "IN" port and the 2nd line is connected to the "POWER BEYOND" on the spool valve.

in the end, the shape of these two line were tweaked in order to minimize stress on the lines and the hoses.

All assembled and tested. works great!

After tweaking the shape of the hard lines I painted the hard lines and connected everything together.

To be continued...

Here is a labeled pic of the connections at the spool valve

Hope this helps anyone who may want to add a spool valve to this series tractor.

Sorry for the size of the pic's. I've tried changing the settings on the site that host's my pictures but it doesn't change the size of the pic's on this site.

Just for FYI: You're not connecting the return to the HST case, your connecting to the Transmission case, yes they are different cases. ;)

Nice work! Clean.

What wall thickness tubing did you use that double flares were required?

I did something similar, adding a loader valve to a tractor and used recommended wall thickness for 3k psi . Pretty stout stuff. I'll need to scrounge around and see if I have any of the tubing left to measure. Single flares were (and are) working well.

No distraction, Nice work!

Used standard 3/8" brake tubing, 0.028 wall thickness.
Good for 1800psi. I believe that's with a 4-1 safety factor in that rating.
Kubota service manual says the B2400 max psi is 1280psi and that prob with a loader.
I'm only running a 4way blade.
I believe with the "actual" thick hydraulic steel tubing you are only able to get a single flare. A backing sleeve is required though.

UPDATE

I got the hose's for the 4 way blade made and installed.
I bled the air out of the cylinders by cycling all the rams until they operated smoothly.
Everything works as it should.

New double acting cylinder and 1/4" lines installed. Cylinder is a 1.5" ram with a 6" stroke. Line adapters are 90*, #6Male ORB to female 1/4" NPT.

I noted that the hoses looked like they need some strain relief...so I got onto that today

I used some 3/8" round bar and bent it into a coil using my cheap Harbor Freight bender. Then a piece of 3/16" flat bar was welded, marked and drilled to bolt onto a bracket that I'll utilize on the front of the 4 way blade.

welded a piece of 3/16" flat stock so I can mount it to the frame of the plow.

Then threw some orange paint on it to make it official.

It really helps take the strain off the rubber lines, especially at the spool end.
