Go with a ballast box to take some of the weight off the front axle. Something in the 1,000 pound range.

If you haven't already done so, you might want to set the rear wheel wider if you have R1's or look in to spacers if you have R4's.

You should have something on the 3 pt when using the loader. You don't necessarily need to buy a ballast box if you have a heavy implement that would work.

I went with a 1000 lbs of wheel weights on mine. My tires are filled also. You won't go wrong with any method as far as I'm concerned. These tractors need weight in the back somewhere. You'll notice how much smoother the loader operates immediately, especially when lowering a full bucket, forks, etc.

As mentioned, add weight to the 3PH for ballast and a bit of relief on the front axle. I have filled tires and wheel weights, but always put weight on the 3PH.

If you buy or build a decent 3pt carry-all, you can load it up with sand bags or an IBC or something similar to make a ballast weight, and get the added convenience of the use of a carry-all, instead of a zero use 3pt ballast box, and/or wheel weights.

I have an L 5740 with FEL and grapple,
How much weight is correct for a ballast box on this tractor?
thanx
You could use anywhere from 1000lbs to 2000lbs on that model, the more the better. ;)
