I should mention that both of these trailers pull great, on road, offroad, even in the dunes, but both of us wish we had added about 3ft to the tongue length. They are a beatch to back up, especially with the solid rear axle.

a LOT of parts for the Rhino are being slowly phased out, so it doesn't surprise me at all. I just bought one a couple months ago, fixed it up and give it to my brother. Little did I know, he's been wanting one since they came out but never had the money. Well now he's got one, it's his, out of my hair (hopefully) but at the same time I kinda miss it. He is absolutely TICKLED to finally own one.

Those doors you see on the Sidekicks? Teryx's? RTV's? Can-Am's? Every side-by-side with doors is a direct result of the Rhino debacle. So is the annoying reverse limiter among many other things. But it wasn't directly because of the Rhino, it was due to money-hungry attorneys who saw an opportunity. I actually got a letter from an attorney who practices locally right after I registered mine (or now my brother's), basically said your rhino is dangerous, it flips easy, and we are here should you need us. Really? It isn't top heavy, it doesn't flip easily...BUT...if you put big tires and performance CDI on it and start doing donuts on a hillside, yeah, you can turn it over but so will almost any other side-by-side with the same circumstances. But since the Rhino was extremely popular from 04-10, naturally if there are a million of them out there you're going to have a few accidents. The media got wind of "it" and they blew it up too, which made Yamaha take action to protect their reputation. If anyone remembers back in the mid 1980's the same exact thing happened with 3 wheelers. It even morphed into them discontinuing the Rhino altogether in favor of the Viking which is a LOT wider. I like them but they're too big. The dealer I was working at sold about 1,000 Rhino's from 2003 (04 models) through 2012 when I left. Most of them were sold to a company who does a lot of survey work for some of the drilling companies, they LOVED them, and they USED them (and hard). They used them in places that daylight could barely be pumped into if that tells you anything, so when I saw them at the shop, they were covered in junk...limbs, thorns in all the tires, axle boots ripped completely off sticks stuck through the fuel tank and bubble gum jammed into them to hold the fuel in, etc. They had to have 'em fixed too, and ASAP, so we basically kept a boat load of Rhino parts on hand at all times....there was good money in them (sale and repair), and I miss 'em. Now that I'm back in dealer work, I see one about every couple weeks but nothing like it used to be. To give you an idea, we had a big roll-off dumpster FULL of CV axles which mostly came from the Rhino's hauled off the day I left in early 2013. Those guys used them real hard, but where they used them there was no other way to use them. Babying them was not an option as doing so they'd never make it back out.

Anyone remember the 08 Teryx's? They tried to copy the Rhino and did a piss poor job in doing it....air filters plugged quickly, couldn't get to the radiator cap without lifting the entire front hood off of it, engines failing (V-twin..$$$$), etc etc. The 750 and 800 fixed the issues but they're outdated now.

Finally got my door kit installed.
1st pic shows the door and passenger grab handle
2nd the rear wheel spacer (2")
The installation also includes removing the rear sway bar, (already done) and installing a new "CYA" plate, to be pop riveted in the center of the dash. (3rd pic)
4th pic shows why I'm glad they had the brains NOT tp install the "CYA" plate.

Finally got the door upgrade done on the Rhino.
1st pic is the door
2nd passenger grab handle
3rd the 2" rear wheel spacers
4th is the CYA warning placard that is supposed to be pop-riveted to the center of the dash; thank God they had the brains not to do that (see 5th pic)
5th pic is the custom center of my dash
Yamaha sent out a memo "back in the day" that said if there were ANY modifications from stock (including cup holders, gauges, etc)....that dealers were not supposed to perform the door kit and return the Rhino to customer with no further action taken. Lawyers again. They had to cover their tail.

It was my understanding that people would put bigger and/or more aggressive tires on them, then go roll them over & get hurt, then some greedy lawyer would get his foot in the door & try to jump on the "sue yamaha" bandwagon. Yamaha had to cover their tail, and sent out aforementioned memo to all the dealers. We couldn't do door kits on machines that had those screw-on cupholders in the dash because the new placard would not have been totally visible. I remember this well because I was doing one that had a clear cupholder when the rep showed up. He throwed up the finger and said "no way dude, call your customer & tell him we can't do it"....and I had already drilled the 1/2" holes for the door bolts into the frame bars. We (dealer) got a good talking to about that, but we didn't know about it because the "memo" hadn't been seen at the time.

Yes....attorneys have done more damage to the country than I can shake a stick at. They're all greedy. The worst part is that our country is run by attorneys (congress), well with the exception of one or two.

The reason most of the goods/services that we want/need are so expensive is because of lawyers. Cars and trucks. Wonder why they're so expensive? Partially because of lawyers. Yeah I can point out good & bad. But here's the deal. As a lower middle class worker, I can tell you that the expense of living is rising faster than my pay is and part of that is because it's getting more expensive to do business, which means whomever is selling items/services to basically everyone is passing those costs on. That's why things get more expensive.

Yes, there has been some benefits from lawyers in this country. I would estimate that good might offset about .05% of the bad they have done. If it were up to me, most lawyers and some judges would be disbarred, and paying heavy fines & even jail times for the thousands upon thousands of frivolous lawsuits brought every year. And civil juries need to be re-educated, or maybe have to pay a portion of their ridiculous awards. 3 million for spilled coffee that you put in your own lap? Really? When virtually evey car made in the last 50 years has 2-10 cup holders? Sounds like you were 100% at fault, and should have to pay everyone's court costs, and maybe get fined for being a moron. What ever happened to taking responsibility for your own actions?
At the height of the Rhino lawsuit time, a fifteen year old girl, (no drivers license) driving an illegally modified Rhino, (non-factory seats in the back) drove down the highway in front of the Glamis Beach Store, (illegally) and pulled up to the RR crossing. She and others waited 20 minutes for a train to pass; it passed, and when the gates stayed down and the lights continued to flash & the bells continued to ring, she drove down the wrong side of the highway, (illegally) drove around the barriers, (illegally) and was promptly smashed by the second train heading the opposite direction on the second set of tracks. If I remember right, she lived, her two brothers riding in the back died. Her family sued everyone under the sun, including Yamaha. How could even the tiniest part of this be Yamaha's fault? The lawyers who file this crap should be penalized, as should the moron judge who let it get to court. This doesn't even speak to the 20 or so other entities or persons they sued in this matter, all of whom had no resposiblity for the incident.
I could go on for hours, but you get my drift.
Rant off. Sorry, one of my many peeves on the condition of society today.

LIL Foot, I agree with you 100%. Wouldn,t it be great IF stupid people would take responsibility for their own stupidity ? I feel the same way you do about lawyers and judges. The sad part is, they laugh about the crazy awards they win, driving costs up for everyone, even the smart, sane folks who never need lawyers and judges.

I have mentioned that I used to do testing/prototyping/etc for a california company that made & sold Rhino high performance accessories. That company was hit with three lawsuits, (one was the above mentioned one) the second went like this:
Guy orders a set of MasterCraft seats; when they come in, he gets a call to bring his Rhino in for installation of his new seats. (installation is included in the price he has already paid) He declines the installation, (already paid for) and says he will install them himself. They explain the the facts to him, but he insists he will install them himself. They make him sign a notarized waiver releasing the company of all responsibility because they didn't do the installation. He signs, and sometime later does a high speed rollover in which the seats come out, injuring he and his wife. He sues the company. I don't offhand remember the details of the third lawsuit, but it was equally stupid.
Now the point of this story.
The owner of the company consults a law firm, who tell him that none of the suits has any merit whatsoever, and he will win easily in each case.
But it will cost him between $200K and $260K to defend himself for each suit, with only about a 50% chance of recovering the costs.
Lawyers get rich again.
He ended up having to sell the company to a friend in the racing community, who had the deep pockets and patience to defend the company against the suits.
The new owner won the lawsuits easily, and last I heard, he was suing the suers to recover his costs.
Lawyers get rich again.
Opps, rant off again.

LugBolt***8230;. I believe this country is run by it's citizens.... unless we're in different parts of the world. (And the reason "lower middle class" isn't keeping up with inflation is NOT because of lawyers. It's because this administration is giving huge tax breaks to the TOP RICHEST 1% instead of the lower classes who actually make up the majority of this country...(which claims to be a democracy wherein "majority" rules. Hmmmmn***8230; I'll bet it's Big Corporations and ultra-rich that are unduly influencing things more than the typical lawyers. )

Lil Foot... I wonder who made the decision as to who was wronged in that suit..?? could it possibly be a JURY..?? a group of citizens who were interviewed by BOTH sides before that trial and who BOTH sides agreed to abide by their decision?

Anecdotal stories that drum up hate for some imaginary group targeted out of frustration isn't valid logic.

However, in an effort to put a different tone to the discussion I'll share a comment once made by a graduate of UT law-school I used to work for:
"In a small town a lawyer will go broke....

***8230; but TWO lawyers will make a pretty good living!" ;)

Lil Foot... I wonder who made the decision as to who was wronged in that suit..??
You miss my point- because the people sued had absolutely NO responsibility for any aspect of the incidents in question, they should never have been sued in the first place. Frivolous lawsuits. Period. I wouldn't so much mind if those who brought frivolous suits (or agreed to hear them) then had to pay all court costs, fines, and punitive damages to the parties they've wronged, (maybe even jail time) but that seldom or never seems to happen. My friend lost a business that he put a lot of time, blood, sweat, & tears into by having to sell at 25% of its value (valuation before before the suits were filed) simply because he wasn't rich enough to defend his company against these frivolous lawsuits.

Anecdotal stories that drum up hate for some imaginary group targeted out of frustration isn't valid logic.
It wasn't anectdotal for us, we lived it.
