G5200 - Problem with Key Switch?

Just had a problem pop up. Used the tractor quite a bit yesterday, no issues. Sat for a while, user turned the key left to heat the glow plugs. Said it heated for a bit then suddenly stopped.

Checking it out, turning key left (heat) or right (starter) does nothing (no clicks or anything - nothing). Including no red lite above key on the dash.

Battery is couple years old, and good charge. Battery cables replaced last year, connections have conductive grease. New OEM starter last year.

My suspicion is either key switch or power to key switch. Anyone have another idea, or recommendations on how to chase this down?

Thanks!

Doug

Start probing around with a test light for power, check both cables and check with a light for a ground connection.

Figured it out. Key switch was only getting 1.8V. Thick-ish red wire coming from starter to dashboard interrupted by a 2-pole connector down by starter. Short loop of green wire on other side of 2-pole had lots of corrosion on connector and wire was failing.

Clipped this out and spliced the red wire straight through. Removed part seemed to serve no purpose - anyone know what this was for? No switches, no fuses. Just a short loop of green wire making the connection across the 2 poles of the connector.

Thanks!

UMMMM...The short loop of wire that you removed was the main fuse, called a fuse link, get an new Fuse (40amp) and holder, or a new fuse link, and put it back in.
