Kubota L2501...direct injection or not?

So I'm contemplating buying a new L2501. I know the engine is a 1.7L inline three, but does anyone know for certain if this engine is common-rail direct injection? Or just indirect? Does it have an electric lift pump?

Thanks in advance

Direct injection does not necessarily imply common rail high pressure injection. The L2501 does not appear to be common rail, like the other L01 tractors which have dpf filters, but is direct inject.

Common rail or not, direct injection engines are much easier starting the IDI. Different design in heads make a huge difference!

I wasn't aware that Kubota made any pre-chamber engines honestly. Thought they were all direct injection. Far as lift pump goes, I suspect if it's common rail, then electric. If conventional injection, lift pump because a common rail engine needs fuel pressure before it starts to crank.

I guess “direct injection” simply means no pre-combustion chamber. Could still be mechanical injection for all I know.

FYI...Duramax diesels were common rail but no lift pump, so it is not a requirement.

Yeah, I’m pretty certain it’s not common rail. I have seen “electronic” direct injection terminology used in marketing materials though. The engine driven pump is the high pressure pump, not the lift pump. Lift pumps are normally electric. You can hear mine turn on in my MX when you turn the ignition to the glow position.

Your right, No it's not

Not for the L2501, you will for the L3301, and L3901, about the only engine controls on the L2501 that are even electrical is the starter and fuel stop solenoid.

The engine driven pump is the high pressure pump, not the lift pump.
The lift pump and the injection pump are both fuel cam driven mechanical pumps

Lift pumps are normally electric.
Simply not true, kubota has a ton of models with mechanical lift pumps.

You can hear mine turn on in my MX when you turn the ignition to the glow position.
You sure, they normally only turn on, in the on position.

The L2501 is as Blondie70 said:

Mechanical lift pump
Mechanical Injection pump
Mechanical Direct Injectors

No Common rail
No High pressure pre pump
No Electronics for the injection system.
No electric pumps

Thanks NIW. I wasn’t aware these things used mechanical lift pumps. Does my B2920 use something like this? Or is it simply gravity feed?

The MX has auto glow plugs...which is the same as the “run” position. There is an audible pump whine.

B2820: Mechanical lift pump

None of the kubota's are gravity feed, they either have a mechanical lift pump, an electric fuel pump, or a combination of several types. ;)
