Grab hook location question

Hello,
I'm looking for idea on where to mount/weld 2 grab hooks on a kubota 1747 bucket. The bucket has a round top edge.
If I drill the bucket to bolt on backing plates should I put a plate inside the bucket also?
Will 1/4" backing plates be sufficient?
Anyone done this or seen it done? Any help is appreciated.
The bucket is attached to a L48 Kubota. See pics.

Try to place the hooks where the bucket is connected to the tractor. I would bolt rather than weld, bolts are on a plate and can be stronger than the metal at the weld.

Hooks on the far edge are fine but should be more along the inside - and always pull straight and not at an angle. Angle will cause a tipping problem!

On larger tractors, I prefer welded hoks, but either will work, here is a good source of both types and good information: http://www.boltonhooks.com/bolt-on.html

Thanks for the referral guys!

Those HD round back buckets present a problem for out bolt on hooks, we always recommend welding them onto those style buckets-and yes 1/4" plates are more than adequate.
