We had this little girl show up today. She came across the neighbors yard while Gypsy and I were walking. Gypsy wasn't to happy about her being there though.

Very very sweet disposition and looks well cared for. Has a high end designer collar so I figure someone will be around once they realized she got loose. No tag on the collar though, or I would have called her owner.

This touches on the importance of making sure there's a tag on your pets collar in case they get lost.

She sure looks familiar.

Ours, Lacey, also has a sweet disposition. The Mrs likes to take her up to the nursing homes for pet therapy. We are just not sure if the therapy is for Lacey or the residents they both love it.

We live in the sticks and occasionally get calls from concerned folks who stop in the forest across from us and get a visit from our mutt:

"Hello, I found your dog, she seems lost and hungry."

"If you are on the forest service road, she's not lost, and she's always hungry"

Time to change that tag to say that...

We had a bad virus that affected dogs go thru our area this winter. It acted kind of like parvo. Had all the vets scratching there heads. My giant malemute Frank caught it. He went from 147 lbs down to 81 lbs. We nursed him through with chicken broth and pepto bismol. Dang near lost him.
I hope this virus doesn't end up down in the lower 48. It's nasty. Here's pics of Frank while sick and him now. He's back at 125 and gaining daily. At 15 months now so he should top out at 150-160.

We've got a new pet or 2 hanging around the last bit in the tree out front. I just don't like the way they fly low over my dogs while they're out.

We had a productive morning so far. Took Gypsy with me into town. We hit the walking trail for a miles worth of sniffing and new scents :D

Then ran over to Plant outlet. She got to hang out with the folks there for a bit. Got some good ear scratches, and a belly rub. We then picked out a crape Myrtle to plant where we buried jack. And also got a pickup bed worth of bulk mulch for the flower beds :D just got home and now I have a very worn out baby girl :D

We had a busy morning. Gypsy went with us to Lowes, then we stopped at the walking path in town. Walked 1.3 miles. Then to plant outlet for pickup truck full of mulch. We then dropped my wife off to get a pedicure.

While my wife was doing that, Gypsy and I went to pet smart. She got a bag of kibble, new toy, and a new bone. We then went back and picked up my wife before going home.

We now have one worn out baby girl snoozing on her bed next to my chair :D

Bearbait, sorry to hear the sad news. Be at peace knowing you did everything possible during your pals entire lifetime. That's an honor.

Thinking about what Skeets said, I would never let the passing of a pet stop me from finding another one.

Every one we've ever had are what I call "throw aways". People dumped them out, or let them run all over the country side and we'd offer to take them if they didn't want them. There's always more out there needing the same attention as the one that just left us.

Pets are great for our personalities. Forces us to be responsible, think in a timely fashion, forces us to communicate, teaches us about life and habits, bring joy with out medicine! What else does that?
