I have a 1999 L4200 gst cab and I don't have 5 thru 8 gears . I have changed the hydraulic filter and replaced my hydraulic pump too.The power steering doesn't work in gear unless you increase rpm's to about 1500 rpm.Any ideas? Thanks

I'm not sure how yours works but my gears 5-8 are the same as 1-4 but with the rear in high range.
Gears 1-4, rear in low range.
Gears 5-8, rear in high range.
Is your rear axle not shifting from low to high?

With a GST pump pressure plays a huge role in the operation of the transmission, the fact that you don't have power steering unless it's in high RPM's leads me to think you have an internal leak in the GST system.
#1 get the WSM for your tractor and it will have a trouble shooting guide in it.
