I changed the transmission filter along with the other service items on the above tractor at 50 hours. I did the transmission filter because I misread the maintenance schedule and didn't realize it was not due until 200 hours. This is in addition to the hydraulic fluid filter located on the opposite side of the tractor.

I used a Wix transmission filter which did not have a way to install the magnet. The old magnet was full of filings and I saved it.

Now I'm having regrets. I got a new Kubota transmission filter and want to replace the Wix as well as add the cleaned magnetic ring back in.

My current plan is to elevate the transmission filter side of the tractor as much as I can short of a tip over and replace just the filter. Obviously I'd like to do this with minimal loss of the expensive and nearly new UDT-2 fluid I put in there just a few tractor hours ago.

Any holes in my theory or advice? And yes, I know I'm an idiot.

Thanks, gary northeast MN

To eliminate almost all chances of waste just drain the fluid and reinstall it.;)
