Hello,

Stupid question maybe, but i just bought a kubota tractor, please see fotos, and it seems it has only three forward and one reverse gear, not six/two
Anyone knows if this tractor is a Aste A 17 or a CX18?
Anyone kniws if these have been built in a simplified version, as mine?
It was sold as a CX18, but it has the D1005 engine, tyre size is 6.00-12 and 8,3r22, on the speed sticker it goes from a15-a19 Aste,
On the rim is stamped 91,
No manufacturers plate to be found.

Does anyone has a spares list for this tractor?
I dont find a reductor gear lever, it should be behind your right foot under seat, right?
I have a gear lever, a neutral shift lever and a four wheel drive lever, nothing else, three point linkage only to be activated with a electric switch no lever, althouth the indication for the positions are there, but only two solenoid distributors...

Help please

Thank you very much in advance

Robert

Does it select low range or reduce speed when you shift into 4wd? (Whilst I doubt it, it's worth asking the Q)

Why are you translating Chinese words?

That last time I checked Kubota is Japanese! ;)
And I'm sure it's a completely different language...like maybe Japanese! :p

If those symbols (words) are on your tractor, quick sell it as it's not a grey, it's a fake Kubota!

Looks like everybody had better sell their FAKE NEWS tractor eh NIW!

Go as hard as you like NIW, but I'd advise you to get your facts up to scratch first.
The symbols are the same in Japanese and Chinese (named differently) but mean the same.
The characters were taken from a Kubota manual, searched on the net, and the first decent pictures that came up were Chinese, and I checked that they were the same, and they were easy to cut and paste, easy to see, to make it easy for the OP to identify them if they are on his tractor.
If you want to search for the Japanese images and put them up, go for it. But the result is the same basic character for this use. And if the forum would make them work, here they are from the manual

Japanese language uses two different sets of characters to express words. An alphabet called Katacana if I remember correctly, and Chinese characters. The kids learn Katacana first. You see both in Japan. I managed to learn neither when working over there for a few months.

Back to the OP's question.

Is there any other levers on the tractor?
because one would think that if it shows all the gears it should be selectable.

Hello,

Thank you, yes indeed these symbols are there
next to the RH lever,
But what it does is to engage the four wheel drive, hundred percent sure i tried it in reverse uphill,
On the left is a lever which puts the drive in neutral and is somehow related to the front part of the gear box where the linkage of the steering somehow should disengage the rear drive for sharp angles, which doesn't work though...

I m not much wiser now,
Ritchie brothers sold this tractor as a model CX18T, but this is supposed to have a d1105 engine, mine has a d1005...

Miracle tractor?

Thank You anyway i keep searching.

Regards

Robert

Hello,

Thanks,
I thought about that too, somehow having 4WD only in low or so,
But no
The same speed in 2 or 4WD,
The diff in rev. Is very remarkable if the sticker gives the right speeds.

Hello,

No,
And no entry into the gearbox on the RH side either where the group/reduction selector should be next to th 4WD lever....

Miraculus?

I'd be trying that lever again, in the positions indicated, because that's the location in other similar tractors to this for high/low speed change, as well as the character indication.

Just a wild guess, but I'm wondering if it might be electrically changeable?

Hello,

I ve checked directly on the gear box, but no.
Do you kniw if on others the 4wd engagement is done at the rear of the gear bix too?

Thanks

Other similar tractors have the high/low in the same position on the RHS, some on the left of the PTO selector. Another tractor shows a "creep" gear select on the left of the PTO
Carefully feel/change positions of these two levers in sequential operation and see if you can get a corresponding change of speed in the same gear at the same rpm.

Hello,

100% right!!!

Left of the pto lever was the lever limited to neutral and fast,
I took it completely off and put a grip plier directly in the shaft,
And wonder, wonder, wonder
I have a slow and a fast group!

The way the lever can go is limited to the rear, i ve cut one inch out and can actuate the group selector now,
I presume this was done on purpose to have a simplified version, as the three point lever is not there either.

Thanks a lot,
This was my best birthday present!

All the best to you down under!
I ve travelled the east cost and central Australia in 1988 and have very good memories to your wonderful country!

Regards

Robert

Great result! Can you take a better pic of the characters next to the left lever?

Interesting, those symbols only reference "fast turn". Glad you now have low speed.
