Hello friends,

I have an L35 tractor. I am rebuilding the rear end and have found several gears that were heavily damaged. I have found all the replacements except for one. Everywhere I go online the part is listed as discontinued. The part number is 32751-15122. I have talked to all the major parts dealers and they don't have any suggestions for me. What can I do? Can I get the gear rebuilt? Is there another source out there somewhere?

Thanks in advance. I am in Oklahoma.

It doesn't look to me like it's discontinued either???

If you talked to Colemans and Messicks and they say it is truly discontinued, then your next best bet is West Kentucky Tractor Parts.

That part, 32751-15122, is in fact discontinued. I called a friend at a dealer and had her run the part number through kubota's dealer system. No Kubota warehouse has it. Also, no Kubota dealer showed to have one in stock-but I'm told that doesn't mean that a dealer doesn't have it, it just means that no dealers have ordered one in the last 6 months.

Used parts market is going to be your best bet.

If there's enough left of the old one to measure, it should be possible to have one made from scratch by somebody like these people. Might be spendy, but better than the L35 becoming a boat anchor - good luck.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Yes, Messicks and Coleman's both say they can get it on the web, but when you talk with them via telephone they say it is impossible to get. I am going to try to get one made-----I do have enough left of the original gear to try. I have tried all the second hand places/tractor salvage folks I can find----and they are ALL missing that gear---even the ones with L35s in stock---it has been stripped out and sold long ago. I don't need a boat anchor----I need a tractor. Fingers crossed that this gear doesn't cost thousands-----I don't HAVE thousands. Who does in this day and age! Thanks again...and I will keep you posted as to my search/results.

Any best guesses as to what causes this gear to become stripped?

I just opened my tractor up and found that this Cluster Gear 25/20T (32751-15122) along with the counter gear 20T (32751-15222) and 4wd shift gear (32751-15170) were all completely destroyed. After many hours of researched I learned that the cluster gear production was discontinued years ago and I can tell you for a fact that no kubota distributor or salvage yard on the east coast (at this time) has it. I have called all the ones I can find. I had to settle with getting one manufactured which after getting prices from multiple online sources between 950$ - 5500$, I decided to go with a company in Tampa FL called Pawlus Gears - https://www.pawlusgear.com/. They quoted me $1850 and 2-3 wks production. Just in case anyone out there has to work on this part, the 32751-15212 Shaft and the 32751-15222 gear are both discontinued and no longer made by kubota either. I was able to order the last one made by kubota from a dealer in California called Apex Rentals. But when I received it I noticed that the new gear was almost a 1/4” thicker than the old style gear. After calling my local kubota dealer I was notified that this new gear was to be sold with a new shaft as a pair. 🤦🏻‍♂️ Thankfully the new gear splines meshes with the old shaft so I think I can slip it on and move the snap ring groove over, or counterbore the gear itself to fit the old snap ring slot.

Congrats on a resourceful solution providing more lifespan for your L35 !

So many machine lives end early - but some have clever and persistent owners !
Good doing - and we'll look forward to operating reports. Take care, Dick B

Anybody know how Grymmm1234 ever made out? Maybe he can go a similar route if he still has the machine...

I just received the gear a couple of days ago, but haven’t had the chance to start putting everything back together. Hoping to start next week! It is absolutely perfect, looks like it came from the factory!
I also received the blank sketch as well! Doesn’t have any of the gear teeth data on it but it does give all of the specs for the gear blank.

Very nice. Cutting those compound gears can be a little tricky and expensive to make. Lots of material removal just to make the blank and typically not enough clearance to hob the teeth so they have to be shaped. I have also worked on one application where the teeth have to be clocked exactly the same to prevent binding. Did you have the teeth hardened and would you like to share how much that set you back?

The gear was sent to a heat treating facility prior to grinding the bore to finished size ID. Total gear cost was 1850 plus tax. Close onto 2K for the whole thing by the time I got it into my hands. Since there was metal shards throughout the whole transmission/Mid case we decided to check all of the bearings for wear… They are all worn/hazy, so we are ordering new bearings for everything. At least when we are done it will be brand new! Probably going to even do a paint job!
