I purchased some replacement u joints and it seems they are 1/16- 1/32 to small any idea if I got the wrong ones the part number is 66591 56320. Pretty bummed as they were 50$ a peice. Pretty sure the caps need to be snug but I could be wrong any advice would be great.

Cheers

Is there a snap ring groove in the yoke?

You probably have the correct parts but you should measure the old cap diameter and the new ones.
This site shows most dimensions of the joints.

Your PTO shaft may have been changed and not be the Kubota brand.

NAPA Auto Parts was very helpful getting the correct u joint by measuring the old one

Which joints are you working on?
Feed from the transmission to the front?
Or is it the joint inside the front axle?

How did you remove them? I know a guy that just beat on one side of the cap instead of evenly on the whole cap. In doing so, he stretched it, and a new u joint would just fall out.

I used a socket to press them out then channel locks to pull them the rest of the way out.

Thanks I will look at this tonight. It's not a pro shaft but the drive shaft from trans to front axel.

Thanks I'll look at that tonight.
It's not a pro joint it's the joint on the driveshaft the goes from trans to front axel.

Where are you getting your parts from?
I noticed in your other thread that the parts were bagged in zip lock bags and not factory sealed bags.
My point is, if they are not in factory sealed bags, it's possible that someone has bagged the wrong crosses.
And just as a note: all models of B7100 took the same crosses.

Messick website.
The u joints are in sealed kubota packaging.
The inside diameter on the yokes I'm working on are .808"

Could the yokes have been changed maybe like Russell king had said?

I'll take a pic of the packing when I get home tonight.

Thanks

It would be rather odd for the yokes to have been changed, but stranger things have happened. ;)

Yes those are OEM packages.

Are both sides (bearing cups) of the cross the same dimensions?

You haven't opened the second package right?
But can you either mic it or just hold the other up to compare the 2 new part sizes.

Kubota parts are almost always right on the money as far as size and fit goes, so this is an odd one.

I went ahead and removed the front axel u joint. The replacement one was a perfect fit. So looks like I'll have to return the unopened one and find a fit for the different sized yoke. Hopefully the local napa might stock somthing.

I'm starting to think many hands have messed with this old tractor lol.

Can you just replace the whole yoke and u-joint with new dealer parts? May be too expensive or may be the easiest way...

Thought I would share I have been looking for a replacement for a week now not getting anywhere none of the local auto parts stores were helpful. Until I realised duh kubota is Japanese which means it's all metric.

So within 5 min on the web I found a replacement from only one website
http://www.theujointstore.com/tuskoy1.html

It's in the mail I'll update if it works considering it measures the same.

Cheers
