When I turn the steering wheel, the wheels do not turn and the shaft and steering wheel lift. There is no resistance on the steering wheel. It seems as there is a linkage of sorts that has come loose or broken where the shaft attachs to the steering mechanism to turn the wheels. Does this sound accurate? How easily could I fix this myself without taking in to the shop? Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Thank you very much!

Sincerely,

Cliff

Just been throught the same thing.
The bearings in the steering box have fallen apart and need to be replaced.
Look at Vic's steering box video -- most likely over time rain water has displaced the oil in the box.
Time to remove the dash and cowel and the fuel tank to get the steering box off.
Vic was very helpful when I did mine.
