My kubota B6200 engine is toast. And I ordered another D850 engine. The problem is that the new D850 engine is therma Siphon system it does not have a water pump. The original D850 in my tractor had one? Someone said I can switch off the front cover of my old engine and put on the good engine and that will add the water pump. But I was just thinking of using the therma Siphon system, from what I have seen the therma system had bigger radiator hoses.... would i need bigger radiator hoses? What do you guys think? Can I just use the therma siphon system? Or should i replace front cover and use the water pump? And if so how long does it take to replace front cover? Thanks

Greetings from just up the road from you. :D

Changing it over to use the water pump is a much better setup all the way around, your radiator is also not set up for a thermo sipon system either. ;)
Another thing you probably didn't notice is the differance in the alternator setup.

The swap should only take you a couple of hours, you'll want new gaskets, O-rings, and seals for the swap, The trickiest part is one spring that must be removed before you pull the front cover, it's attached to the front cover but it's not too bad with a good pair of long needle nose pliers.

If you haven't done so yet go to Kubotabooks.com and download the WSM for that tractor, if required I also have the manuals specific to that engine, and if you run into a pinch your close enough that I'd run over and give you a hand getting it set up, I've done quite a few of them. :D

Awesome thanks. I will check out the books. I'm assuming your quoting 2 hours to replace the front and water pump? Or is that for the whole engine replacement? If not is there anything I need to know when swapping out engines? It is HST. And when I do the front cover, I was going to use ultra black for gasket maker, or is there a gasket set I can buy? Again thanks for all the information. I also ordered a new water pump and thermostat, and it gave me gaskets for that.

Go to Kubota local dealer or online and order the right gaskets and O-rings, avoid RTV on this.

It's hard for any of us to tell you how long it will take you to swap the engine.
I can do it in an easy afternoon, but I've done a few and have the right tools and equipment.

There's nothing out of the ordinary or odd about the swap.
A good set of tools will do it.
One part that might give you an issue is the front crank pulley nut, but that depends on the style of the pulley.

When you disconnect the engine from the transmission it will want to flop to one side or the other. Be sure to put a small wedge of 1 by lumber above the axle on both sides of the engine.

I power wash everything with Zep purple cleaner to get all the oil, grease, dirt and junk off of it, make it much easier.
Good jack, and stands, and some good solid 2x4 or 2x6 chunks come in real handy.

You will need these gaskets:
And if your going to pull the intake or exhaust manifolds, you will need others too.
Also while your in there you should check both the clutch disk and pressure plate and both the throwout and Pilot bearing (I would suggest pilot bearing and dust seal since motor was out of another tractor.

Case Cover Gasket P/N 15531-04130
O-rings for cover P/N 04811-06130 (You'll need three of these)
Oil seal P/N 15841-04140
Speed control plate gasket P/N 15261-57210
Stop cover plate gasket P/N 15231-05130
Water flange gasket P/N 15261-72920
Clutch housing gasket P/N 66621-51410
Pilot bearing P/N 66621-14120
Pilot bearing seal P/N 09400-14247

Yes you need to have the clutch in perfect working order, it drives the Hydrostat and the PTO. ;)

I would, it's cheap enough and would save a ton of abuse of not having to go back in because of a failure.

Throwout bearing P/N 67311-13320
Pressure plate P/N 67211-13300
Clutch plate P/N 67980-13400

Here is an aftermarket set which will save you some $ if you want to go that route, I've used this set and had no issues with it in quality or fit.
