I took mine off (1979 B7100, welded some washers where the rubber pads has bent and rusted through, bought a cinch down seat cover / pad from Tractor Supply, and installed it.
I then installed the rubber cinch strip along the edge of the tractor and drove it.
2 years ago and it sits outside under a tarp (for now) and it is still holding up well.
Out of pocket cost was like $25 and some time / spraypaint.
Good luck.

I too needed a new seat, mine was just the metal all cushioning gone. So I bought a craftsmen seat off ebay for $18 like new took it to a shop had them cut the brackets off the Kubota seat and weld them on the craftsman seat and viola NEW SEAT cost $28.00:)
PS use the mounting bracket off the seat base to act as spacer when you have the welder, weld them (the brackets) to the new seat.
