Got a L185, need a block heater for it. Was thinking of taking a universal tank type thermosyphon (if I spelled that right) heater, and plugging one end into the block drain, and drilling and tapping a hole in the top side of the head, for the upper connection. Has anyone tried this? Only heater I have seen, on this tractor, is a rather large lower radiator hose heater, that hangs down pretty low. It was on an older L-185, might have been O.E. My thought is that the radiator connection is a little higher, than the motor connection, and it would more likely heat the radiator, rather than the motor. Any thoughts?

Block heater is the best, second would be inline heater, I have one here that is only slightly larger than hose, so they are not that big.

Drilling an tapping a head is the last thing I would do to it, way too many things could go wrong with that!
And the drain is going to allow all the junk and crud get directly to the heater! ;)
