Photos of just completed ramp and deck for loading snowmobiles and atv's.
I was building them at my previous job,now they want more. First of three i have to do. My new welder is working great. IMG_2879.jpg

Will put up another photo next post.
Tailgate accepts ramp,well secured.
Angled back so atv's will fit with gate closed and can see through it when backing up.

Tailgate and ramp IMG_2877.jpg ramp clips on tailgate and wont slip off. All the pieces are manageable. The driver of this truck is a female conservation officer and wont use any other loading system.

Nice!!!! I like it. :D I use a set of aluminum bifold ramps that utilize tie down straps to lock it to the tailgate.

Try and drag a moose up any other ramp, it becomes a challenge. Some of them have winch mounts for dragging things on, so its handy in so many ways.

The mooses loaded are either roadkill or illegally hunted. Same for bear caribou or what have you.

Next one will be different, cant remove tailgate due to backup camera and rental agency wants it to renain with truck. But it being aluminnium i need to come up an adapter that will carry ramp and preserve gate. That dont weigh 1000 lbs and wont clip off fingers if used improperly.
They had 3 piece gates in the 90's that caused some serious injuries. I have one of them, salvaged from the scrap pile.

Winch. It mounts to"headache rack" usually side mounted and a sheave to run cable out rear of truck. Reason for side mount is recovery of objects in ditch or on roadside.

Interesting,,very interesting,, indeed,, have you any idea of the load rating of the rack and how it is mounted to the bed? I am asking for a reason, maybe load fire wood in 8 foot lengths, in a pick up bed or on to a trailer.. Always get ideas from you guys :D

All i can say is a 700 lb plus snowmobile doesent bother it. Its 5 cross pieces,1x2 .125 wall at cab on vertical,2 1x1 .125 wall in middle and 2 1x1 at tailgate end welded to make 1x2 but on flat. The double 1x1 is very rigid, considering its weight.theres 1/2" of vertical tubing wall and that part alone will carry what ever the ramp will support. IMG_2857.jpg

The lengthwise runs are jus 1/8"x4" flat stock.

So the aluminum box ford showed up. Driver says if i build it heavier than usual that would be great. Its real light in the back and hard to keep in a straight line on rough gravel roads.
Lets see what unfolds in the next few days....

That is really cool! I could think of several uses for something like that...
