Occasionally I see an auction that lists a newer Kubota or a listing on Craigslist or other places. My question is if the tractor was being purchased on the 5 year 0% interest plan, not paid off and not mentioned at the auction that there is a balance owed are you responsible for the balance remaining? How would Kubota know who bought it etc?

Reputable auction houses can not afford the hassle of bad sales so they’ll make sure that all info is upfront. I don’t know of any that sells equipment while under finance with an outside company.

Elsewhere, ask for documentation. If it’s missing, beware. Especially for newer equipment.

Additionally, be very careful. There are craigslist scams aplenty and I have heard of nightmare Auction sales (selling stolen equipment).

They may be just fine, but do your homework then double check it.

You can always call Kubota Credit and ask, have the serial number. ;)

If you were to buy a Financed unit, they could not make you pay, but they most likely would want to repo the unit, :(

When buying used, do your homework.
If the price is too good to be true, it probably is

Forgive the ignorance as I don't have my tractor yet, do they have titles similar to cars?
No, tractors and equipment do not have certificates of origin or titles, just get a bill of sale with the tractor and equipment (FEL and or others) serial Number listed on it.
A notarized bill of sale is even better! ;)
