6 weeks ago I took my wife to the emergency room for intense pain. They diagnosed her with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. It's in her Pancreas, liver, stomach, lungs and spine. I'm a disabled veteran and she was my primary care giver, now I am doing my very best to be her primary care giver. We have been married for 48.5 years.

Cancer is an insidious disease, it not only destroys the person that has it but the lives of everyone that loves them as well. I know this because I am going through this with my wife. I am truly sorry for you having to go through this. Remember there are new treatments coming out everyday, and thank the Lord for the time you had with her.
I know it's hard my friend, but try and smile and love her every second of every day and let her know she is much loved.

I'm desperately seeking the words to say to a very dear friend that I'm going to visit next week in AZ, that just got dealt the same blow, doctors gave him weeks to a month.

In my experience Wolfman, just be yourself, don't treat them any different than you always have. Remember the fun and stupid things you've done together. Nothing you can say or do can make this better. It's a journey we all have to take alone. Sorry if I'm over stepping.

I am so sorry to hear about this. It is a situation many of us will have to face.

All we can do is make the best of it. 48.5 years is a long time to be married. I hope to get there some day.

Just keep loving and making memories together and lean on friends and family. That is what they are there for.

Do all you can to control what you can. If a doctor gives you some critical news, don't be so quick to accept it. Medicine changes almost daily, and some test/reading are not as accurate as represented.

I have an acquaintance who was told he had cancer and so many weeks to live. He went home and ended his life. His family found out a few days later (from his doctor) the situation was not as bad as was first thought! The doc. was not aware they were making funeral plans. Pretty sad.

So sorry...

Just lost my FIL last month...same thing. One month shy of his 60th wedding anniversary. They were together for 79 years (lived in the same house in Italy when MIL was born). So sad.

Thinking of you in this difficult time.
