Anybody Modify Aftermarket Cylinder for B219 Loader ?
I have seen a couple posts about a Maxim Cylinder.. or this Dalton http://www.daltonhydraulic.com/dalton-welded-tube-cylinder-2-bore-x-18-stroke for $160 delivered. but no followup on modifications?
It seems the brackets need to be cut down a little to 1-7/8" ?
And maybe use a pipe for a shim so the 5/8" Kubota pins will work ?
Any suggestions would be appreciated, as my rod has heavy pitting and appears it is bent.
If I do not hear from someone who has modified theirs to fit, I may end up spending $200 + Seals on having new rod for mine. (However I do not know the condition of the barrel housing yet)
This opposed to spending $150-$160 on the Maxim or Dalton Cylinder HOPING I can modify it and get it to work.

I gave you other options in other thread.

http://www.orangetractortalks.com/forums/showpost.php?p=175153&postcount=53

Altering a hydraulic cylinder is a BAD idea. ;)

If I remember correctly the cylinders on the B219 are only 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 bore, jumping up to a 2 in is going to slow it way down!
And why try and stuff a larger cylinder in there?
Thanks, does anyone have specs on that Kubota cylinder?
Not sure of bore? I thought it was 2" Bore 1-1/4" rod per another post..

but, my measurements are as follows
Barell is 2.380 so is this 1-1/2 or 2" bore?
Rod is 1.125
IDK how to measure stroke exactly, but measuring from center of tube on rod end, to center of tube on barrel end (where the pin goes through) when cylinder is 28-1/4" extended compressed is 17-1/4" so does that mean it is 11" stroke ?

So would this Maxim cylinder be closest? http://www.baileyhydraulics.com/Maxim-3000-PSI-Welded-Crosstubes_11
But this has a 1.250 rod while mine is 1.125

Modifying would be cutting/shortening the brackets by 1/4-1/2" on each side. to fit 1-7/8" on kubota Loader. and using shims to accommodate 5/8" shims.
Would be a huge issue on a compact tractor that only lifts 400-500 lbs.?

has anyone modified aftermarket cylinder for B219 FEL?

Temblor, I think you could eliminate a lot of grief if you'd take your existing cylinder to a local hydraulic repair shop. Get a quote for a complete rebuild. If you don't want to go that route, get the repair parts from the shop and rebuilt it yourself.

If they(or you) have the cyl. disassembled they can tell you the condition of the parts you're concerned about, and give you a cost on those also.

Then you know you have the correct volume/speed.

Thanks, I am aware of that.. it is $300-$400 range for a new rod installed.

But my post is to find someone who has utilized an aftermarket one.
There are others interested in these as well.
Thanks tho..

I gave up looking for a replacement cylinder, bought two with similar dimensions (same bore though) and repositioned the brackets. :)

Granted, I did it to accommodate a replacement bucket.

Thanks for sharing that, I ended up ordering 15" of 1-1/8" Chrome steel Rod from supplier in Texas http://www.alloysandcomponents.com/chromerod.htm
Cost about $30.00 shipped.. took it to machine shop in Everett WA (Guy runs at his house) he charged me $100 labor to duplicate the bent rod..
He even assembled it with seals for me and tested Cylinder ( I was planning on doing latter part myself)
Thanks for any help here... and thanks for a cool machine shop! Works great!
Cylinder/Hydraulic rebuild shops wanted like $300 minimum to do the same job.. I know they need to make a living.. but what can I say, this is a 80s Garden tractor.. I can not afford to spend $300+ for every cylinder rebuild.

Actually I'm just starting to do this now , i screwed one tilt cylinder up , can't find a exact replacement at all and they told me it would cost as much to fix it as it would be to make a new one . I'll post pics on my progress.

Hold up, are you needing a replacement for one of the bucket cylinders? I have one.

Surprised that sinisterbiker hasn’t responded. The stroke length is unique.

I understand, I mentioned that I HAVE an exact replacement available.

It came from my loader when one went bad and I replaced both & kept the other.

Anyone that needs one is welcome to it instead of taking the long route of customizing one, etc.

I would be interested in that as a spare. Maybe PM me with the details.

Certainly. It’s up for grabs. Just pay shipping and some extra so I can donate to my local nonprofit organization, NEXUS of Spokane. :)
