site certificate problems?

Anyone experiencing a site certificate error? I seem to get that every time i open a new page.
Sometimes it's just a connection error. ..
am i the only one?

No issue for me, in Minnesota if it is a geographical issue.

Today is the first time in a few days they i have come by here. It happened when i first loaded the page then everything was normal since. Left the site came back and all was still good.

If it happens again, I'll try to get more details on what it's saying.

I closed my browser and came back. It's a problem with the security certificate. Says the site name does not match the certificate.
I'm assuming i can add an acception top my browser top not see this anymore.

I did not know this site had a secure version. I have always visited via regular http (ie: "http://www.orangetractortalks.com").

So I just attempted to access via secure https (ie:"https://www.orangetractortalks.com"), which is the only way a site certificate would be requested.

With Firefox, I get a secure connection failure with the error message "Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long".

With Opera, I get "This site can't provide a secure connection. www.orangetractortalks.com sent an invalid response."

With IE, I get "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" and one of the useless MS "Diagnose Connection Problem" links.

These errors suggest either there is no https -- in which case, there isn't a site certificate either -- or there's a configuration issue with port 443 and/or Apache on the server.

A DNS record search of orangetractortalks.com shows there is only an A record (http), no AAAA record (https). So the balance of probabilities is that the problem with the site certificate is that it does not exist, nor has it ever existed.

I am accessing the site with the Internet browser on a Samsung tablet. No idea what it is. Always just said Internet.
I've never actually looked for the http or https. Right now is just http.
it seems to only happen once per visit now.
I'll pay better attention next time.
See what can be figured out.

Previous poster was correct, if dies have to do with https, even though he said it has never existed for this site.
When this error pops up i get the option to see more information. When i access said information, the site name is orangetractortalks. But the address comes up as carbonmedia something or the other.
Only happens when i first acres the site now. So not a big deal anymore.

The site certificate error has been consistant on my tablet, Xoom, Android, for several weeks now, every time I access it. Disagreement between name of site and name on license is the message. I did not see it just now on phone, also Android but newer, but still concurrently logged in on tablet. I'll try computer and report back later.

I did not see it on the laptop, all are accessing the net from a cable/wifi router. So it is just my old tablet.

Thanks for confirming they I'm not so crazy. Lol
never thought about it being a case of out of date electronics. Or maybe just the browser.
I'll let it die now.

If it's just happening on the first access attempt, I wonder if the browser in question is using the "HTTPS Everywhere" extension? It forces the browser to attempt an HTTPS connection as default, but will fall back to regular old HTTP if that fails.

Note to site admin(s): you really should consider going to a secure site. It's not just for payment portals anymore. There are a lot of good reasons to ensure the integrity of the connection between your site and us users, to prevent hacking at either end.

The "Let's Encrypt" project is out of Beta, so automated, signed & trusted site certificates are available FREE. The hardest part of the whole process is crawling your own site to make sure all embedded resources are also served from a secure source.
