Hi Vic & Everyone,

This site is awesome, loads of great info!

I originally wrote this as a comment on the main page but I got an error when I tried to summit it so I am posting it here instead, not sure if this is the right spot for it, if not please feel free to move it.

I have a L1500DT and I am wanting to add another hyd pump driven off the front crankshaft splines.

Do you have or know where I can find a coupler that will fit?

A part number for it would also be a big help.

I have watched your Youtube video about tapping the existing hyd lines, but I would rather add another pump and tank up front if possible, I already have everything I need but the coupling.

Kubota tractors rock big time, I got my first taste of these lil orange tractors back in 1975 when the city Park dept I worked for bought a couple of them, they go forever and are all but indestructible, I have had my 1500 for a good 10 years now and couldn't be happier with it.

They said I couldn't pull a 5' brush hog with it, well I am on my second, already wore one out, lol.

So far all I have done to this thing is add fuel, (it runs forever on 5 gallons), change oil, replaced 1 front tire, the seat, (which needs replaced again), replaced the steering box, had to straighten the PTO shaft and machine a new mounting plate out of "real" steel, & need to replace the exhaust manifold.

Has anyone ever heard of converting one of these tractors to power steering?

Thanks In Advance for Your Help.
Paul

Cabu,

Yes I can and will post pics IF I can find the adapter I am looking for.

I was hoping Vic would have responded by now, but since I am new here I don't know how much time he has to follow these threads.

Maybe I will try sending him a PM.

I have a bunch of pictures of different mods I have done for equipment, I just need to get them all run through the optimizer program and upload them to PhotoBucket.

I will try and get them all posted in a thread on one of the other sections ASAP.

Been waiting to get my heart surgery done, (cardio cath to plug a hole between the 2 upper chambers, was born with it but it has finally gotten to the point of MUST FIX), finally got it setup for next Monday the 19th.

Hope Everyone has a Great Thanksgiving

Paul

Hey Sledge,

Thanks much.

Not to side track the thread, but they are going to try fixing this the easy way first, which they feel confident they can do, biggest issue is one side only has 5mm of tissue for the plug device thingy to get ahold of, so if it won't grip that lil bit of tissue or if it gets in the way of the valve they will have to pull it out and fix the hole via open heart surgery, (NOT what I want to do).

They are going to do me first on Monday, and then check it again on Tuesday morning to make sure it is still ok, if so they will send me home and call it a day, from what I understand I should be good to go from there.

We are going to ask bunches of questions about full recovery time and all that before I come home just to make sure.

I appreciate the well wishes.

Best Regards
Paul

Hi Paul. I can't answer your question about an adapter for the pump. I do know one can be fabricated to adapt the pump to the motor but that depends on what tooling you have.
I basically dropped in here to wish you well for your upcoming surgery and welcome you to the site. Plenty of great people here and I see you've met Carl. He's part of the furniture here and a great OTT member.
So from one Paul to another the very best to you and wish you a speedy recovery. You'll be in our prayers.
Cheers. Paul aka Wildfire

Hey Wildfire,

First Thanks for the prayers, & well wishes, they are greatly appreciated!

Yea I have a few ideas on how to use the front output of the motor but would really prefer to use a proper coupling, the biggest issue with doing it another way is the splines are so fine on it.

I had originally planned to have a full blown machine shop by this stage of my life, but just haven't been able to pull it together, I have just about anything else I could need or want.

My original plan when we bought our farm was to have enough tools and equipment that I could make a living or at least make ends meet without having to go work for the other guy, but I did not figure on the economy tanking on me like it has.

Like I state in my other thread where I am posting pictures of all my projects, at least everything we have is paid for, including the house and land, so at least we are fortunate to not have a bunch of debt hanging over our head like so many others.

The biggest thing that bugs me is I have all this logging equipment sitting around and can't even use it to make a buck, at the end of the day the only people making anything off my hard work is the dang oil companies, of which also shut down my trucking business, I had a really great thing going with that, running coast to coast in an 05 Western Star, but when fuel hit $4.50 a gallon I was working myself to death just for the cost of fuel, (started out costing $350.00 a day and ended costing $1100.00 a day), so I shut that down and sold the rig.

Like I told my wife, I don't mind working, but I Hate working for nothing.

Best Regards

Paul

Your kindly welcome sir. You've all had a rough time down there with the economy that's for sure. I know how that can change a direction in which one heads. Your operating costs sure climbed with the truck  I can sure see why you dropped that endeavour. One good thing is you own what you have and that's a Hugh benefit.
My situation was much different. I just got fed up working for someone else so I started my own little business which was supposed to be automotive but branched out into welding, fabrication, machining and even restoration. It's taken some very long hours to make it work but its worked so that's all that counts.
Hope you have a speedy recovery.
Cheers. Paul

Hey Paul,

Yes it has been rough down here, and honestly I don't see it getting better anytime soon.

Like you I also got tired of working for the other guy, I was at the top of my field when I left Corporate America to work for myself, I was in the Automation & Robotics field, designing, building, installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and programming.

I am really good at what I do, I have a natural understandiing of how things work, and I have that rare balance of high intelligence and common sense.

I have the ability to start and run a business, but it really gets hard when the economy is constantly getting in the way, (sometimes I think if it wasn't for bad luck I wouldn't have any at all).

Well at the time I left Corporate America and started working for myself we were a long ways from beiing debt free, and the OTR trucking thing almost bankrupt us, but we managed to hang on and finally get all our debts paid off, that has been our saving grace during the last few years.

I completely understand where you are coming from, and I am really glad it has worked out for you, there is nothing better than having a business that is diverse, if one part gets slow you have another part to pick up the slack.

As for the recovery, if the method they are going to try Monday works then recovery should be pretty quick, but if they can't make that work I guess the next step is open heart surgery and I know that is gonna take some time.

I am going to take my laptop with me so I should be able to post some results by Monday evening.

I appreciate your thoughts and prayers.

Cheers

Paul

Hey Everyone,

I already kinda posted some of this in another thread I started a few hours ago, but finally found this tread and thought I would post an update here.

It has been a wild ride over the past 8 or 9 months, I am not sure if I ever posted what happened when the easy fix for my heart failed, but I ended up having to have open heart surgery, (they did the surgery on the day after Valentines Day), the Doctor that tried to fix it with the plug spent 4 hours before he finally gave up on it, the hole was simply too big.

Even he didn't know for sure just how big it was, and when they finally got in and had a good look, they found that the hole was a full 1 inch in dia, I am so lucky it didn't kill me long ago.

At any rate they patched the hole, and my recovery has been fast and I consider it to be complete, but I have my second followup with the heart doctor this coming Friday.

At any rate I am still alive and kicking, lol, but I have been very busy working on the most comprehensive mod project of my life, I am completely rebuilding me, but that is another post.

Best Regards
