I'm probably going to end up giving my L3901 with BH77 to my brother since his old tractor isn't running. I used the BH77 mainly for digging up pine stumps. Since I need a replacement for the BH for stump digging, I'm thinking of a KX71 or KX91.

I'd want to store the excavator in my shop and the garage door opening is 96.5" high. Both of these mini excavators have a height spec of 96" so either should fit it the number is accurate. I'd sure hate to get one and have it not fit though the door. The bigger models are too high. Do you know how accurate the height spec is? The KX71 cab version is supposed to be a half inch shorter but I prefer an open station. And do you know how much better either one would be at digging up stumps compared to the BH77? The biggest stumps are about 15" diameter pines which I think took about an hour or so to get out with the BH77.

Thanks!

I betcha - once you get use to the mini hoe.......you'll do it quicker than before ---- at least 50% faster......

you will be more maneuverable, being able to get in a position then out - rather than drop outriggers......and then spin around....etc...

bet you'll have a little more power too

but the speed of operation and getting in and out of the spot will be where you make all the time!;)

Had a friend come over and dig out stumps at my place with his Mini Ex, about the size of the KX91.
Mostly Red fir and Tamarack (Western Larch), and these were not small stumps, average was about the size of a VW Bug, was able to dig most out in about 15 min, way quicker that the BH on a tractor! ;)

Re: Hey CS1970, KX71 and KX91 questions

Thanks guys for the info. Good to hear that a mini excavator will work faster. Most of the stumps are lodgepole pines. I don't care much for them and try to save the Doug Firs.

How small of a mini ex can you go to and still dig stumps out better than a BH77? Is a quick attach worthwhile and if so do they make rippers that fit the Kubota quick attach?

Hey Pat, since you're very well informed about Kubota stuff, do you know about the accuracy of the hight specifications of the excavators.? And on the Kubota website, it seems like the KX91 is in low supply. Does that mean it will be replaced by another model soon?

And sorry I got your log in name backwards with the Cutlass Supreme in front of 1970. :)

Kubota is 99.9% accurate with their specs! The tractors have to be watched for the tire package for width and height!

My knowledge on the construction equipment is barely above zero! My dealership does not have the Kubota and New Holland construction contracts. So even accessing the information, parts on either is blocked.
