Wow, it has been nearly 15 years since I saw that problem. All I can recall was that it was a bear to do. I remember once we cut the pipes about half way and had fittings brazed into them to reconnect the halves so it would be easier to put them back in place. As I recall, it was much easier. I don't recall having to remove the rops but you will have to remove the sheet metal in the floor. I wish I could recall how, but other times we were able to twist and turn the pipe and manage to get it back in place. You might want to give some thought to the cut braze thing first. It would probably be easier on you religion.
