I have a 15 gal tank I have been putting gas in but I am wanting to start putting diesel in it for my tractor.. the design of the tank makes it hard to empty every drop of gas out... what is the best way to switch over fuels in a tank??

Rinse it out with a little diesel, burn it off in something that runs on gas.
Or leave it open and let gas evaporate. A few drops arent bad, 1/2 gallon may cause damage.

Yep. As always, Tookjunkie offers the advice you need!

I'm getting too friggin' old and weak to handle a 15 gallon can!

You may be headed for a mistake down the road. Gasoline cans are red and diesel cans are yellow for a reason.

If its steel with seams you may run into problems with leaking. Diesel will find its way thru where gasoline won't.

For what it's worth right or wrong I have 3 plastic gas cans old style vented. Took 2 cans painted them yellow painted a big d on them . Same thing rinsed them with gas air dried left upside down for a few days. Bone dry and clean before use . I guess I'm a frugal bubba kind of guy. Not spending hard earned money on new cans that are a pain in the arse to use. I can safely say anybody in my family that would dare touch my tractor would know the difference.

Buddy's wife put gas from a red jug into the ford. It was near empty. Started running rough and quit. Took about 4 hours to drag it in,drop tank clean it out and get it running. Diesel. In a red can. He has 6 yellow ones, but someone doesent understand the importance of designated fuel cans. Could have been a helper around the farm that put diesel in wrong jug.

a tiny bit of gas is not going to hurt. I used to own a duetz diesel and it stated right in the owners manual how much gasoline was allowed as antigel in the winter.
