Love this idea! How did you secure the pvc in the cross member?

Great idea!! I was just looking into where to store my chain and what not. I'm doing this soon if the diameter on my is the same.

I like this idea so much that I went home and measured mine. 4-5/16" diameter so a 4' piece of PVC pipe will fit in there just fine. They're 13" and 16" deep. Two caps cost me under $11 at Home Depot.

Thanks for posting!!

The loader is LA525. It's 4in. which is to big. So I split it with a jig saw about 1/8in. I kind of widdled it down so it would fit tight. The cap came from Lowe's, 4in test plug. It will only hold about 7ft. of chain with hooks. I used duct tape on the back end. I'll probably change at some point, to plugs.

James they make a cap that goes on the inside of the pipe to plug the back side. I am going to get the stuff tomorrow to make mine. I also saw it on the net but thought perhaps it was you that put it there

Let us know how you seal up the back side and take some picture. I saw something like this somewhere also, when I measured the opening on mine it looked a lot smaller and didn't think a 4" test plug would work.

They sell a piece at Lowe's that caps inside. But I had to split the pipe, so that wouldn't work. The red test plug would work on the back side and still go in. Duct tape worked fine for me but when it rots out, I'll replace with another test plug.

Got everything I needed today and instead of running the PVC the entire length of the loader I cut a piece of 4 inch PVC 1.5 inches long and then cut a slot from the side appox 1/8 inch wide. I was pleased to see it snap shut after I cut it as it will now slide into the loader frame easy, I put this over the 4 inch test cap and when I remove this cap from the frame the PVC comes out also. When you tighten up the bolt on the test cap it expands the PVC to make a real tight fit in the frame. I am planning on doing the same with the back side but I will try and get the wingnut on the cap towards the tractor and then I will add a jam nut on the cap to insure it does not come loose. Stay tuned and I will up date tomorrow night how this worked out After rereading James post it dawned on me the cap I was going to use would not work because of the outer dia.size

This is a great idea [emoji106]. I’m making one now for my MX5800. I’m using thin wall 4inch PVC pipe on the front tube of my loader with caps on both sides. The thin wall fits inside the tube and the caps on both ends should tighten it up. Got paint drying now on the caps will post pictures when I’m done. Here is a picture of the number on the cap
