Not very hard to change the brakes on a B7100. If I remember correctly. Remove rear wheel. unhook brake rod and spring. Remove brake housing.

What I do remember is the shoes were quite expensive!

That's why I go barefoot or wear flip flops most of the summer;)

Just kidding ...

Has anyone ever had their brake shoes relined , I am about ready to replace the shoes on my B5100E and if they are too expensive then I am going to see if I can get one of the local shops to reline them.

You can possibly get a bit more adjustment from the nut/ thread at the rear end of the rod.

I am getting the brake shop to reline mine on the advice from my Kubota dealer as it's a lot less expensive (especially over here)

I posted the brake lining specs for B7100 on a thread a few weeks ago.

I will first admit that I haven't priced brakes, but I have been relining my brakes/PTO brake on Wheel Horses with success using McMaster brake lining material (it was recommended by one of the Wheel Horse forum members). I use JB Weld to bond them to the shoe. Here's the link to their site:

I don't know of anyone in recent years in our local area that would line brakes. Our local machine shop used to in the 70's, but those days are gone. The last I looked, I couldn't even find rivets locally.

Dennis, I saw your post and was surprised they were only 0.12 inches (1/8 inch) thick. It would only allow 0.028 wear to the minimum of 0.098. The 1/8 is about what my Wheel Horse garden tractor brake band uses.

The spec was straight from the Technical Manual. Maybe it's wrong? I've yet to do the job.

Thanks for the advice about McMaster lining.

These days I always prefer to do the job myself and learn something new.

Thanks for the advice about McMaster lining. Can't seem to find brake linings on the site. What section is it under?

Dennis, I am with you on that one. Plus I get the satisfaction, and there maybe a day they are unavailable.

I am also in the same boat with you on the linings, I haven't seen a set yet. If anyone ever has a new set, I would appreciate the length, width and thickness of a new set.

Sorry Dennis, I didn't see your question in the second post. If you cursor down on the page, it lists linings by width and thickness. The length is priced by the foot.

which lining did you buy theres three different ones. and also how did you get it to follow the contour of the brake shoe with out cracking the lining.
