I have read that you should be able to bring the deck to the fully raised position, and have it stay there even while lowering the 3 point lift. I have tried setting the deck adjust to the "TOP" position per the height adjustment knob, but the deck still goes down when I lower the 3 point. Am I doing something wrong, missing something, or is my lift adjustment in need of adjustment. Or, do I have it wrong and you can't keep the deck up when you lower the 3 point.

Thanks,

Rick

Rick -

I have the same model. There is a linkage inboard to the left rear wheel that will help, with one bolt. It's a common issue with BX models.

Follow this link and get the free Workshop Manual (WSM) for your tractor. If I remember correctly, it covers the adjustment, along with many other service items for it.

There are also several threads here that explain it, with pictures.

Good luck!

Skeets - I didn't check the web site first, but I was able to get to it just now.

If you don't have it yet, get the WSM. I got it a while back, and its great.:D

Good luck!

Help that I have stored on my computer:

This is a set-up problem that many have and is easy
to fix when you know . Put height on 4" and raise deck to maximum.
Cut engine and jump-off .
Above the left rear tire is the deck-lifter.

It's the same arm assembly as the 3pt-hitch mechanism. You'll
see a bolt and locking nut at the end of this lifter .

Slack off the lock nut half an inch and turn the bolt in ( it's tough since you're
cranking up the 200lb deck by hand here ! ) several turns .

You'll notice the deck is lifting as you go ....... turn to "top" after each
few turns , until it will actually go to "top". Give it a couple of
turns more for good-measure , and then lock the locking nut.
Now the deck will remain suspended when you lower the hitch.
You'll have to raise it all the way up to re-engage the 4"
setting , since it's suspended on the "top" rotary-notch now.

Gentlemen,

Thanks for the responses. I was suspect that the linkage may be the culprit, but didn't want to jack around with it until I had some advise. I do have the WSM, but neither it or the operator manual make reference to keeping the deck up while operating the 3 point, or at least I couldn't find it. I even sat with a fresh hot coffee early this morning a gave everything a reading over again. Next weekend I will make the adjustment, and hopefully all will be good. I will update once I adjust the linkage.

Best regards,

Rick
