    leaking backhoe valves

I've got an '05 L3830 with a backhoe and grapple and factory rear remotes. When I bought it from the original owner they warned me not to have the grapple and backhoe hooked up to the hydraulics at the same time because it will blow seals in the backhoe. They didn't offer much more of an...

Post your ROPS light mounting pics

Here's a thread to my install. Three lights facing back and two facing front. At some point I will add one for the sides. I bought the lights off Amazon for under $15 each. I liked them so much my four wheeler now has a set. http://www.orangetractortalks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20788

Implement/Attachment you wish you had sooner

My absolute favorite is the grapple. That's on 99.9% of the time. I pick up round bales of hay with it, move the feed drums, pick up and move logs, brush, rocks, etc. Best part is when I start a burn pile I can easily manage the size of the fire by adding a load or two at a time. Helps keep...

    Landscape Rake Size

As long as it doesn't weigh more than your 3 point can lift you should be fine. According to tractordata.com the lifting capacity is 400 pounds. Just don't try to dig in too deep. If it's too much take a torch and cut it down. I've got a 6 foot for my L3830.

    Towing with a half ton

I've got a L3830 and my '11 Silverado 1500 5.3 tows it just fine on a 12k deck over trailer. I usually tow it with the grapple, bucket and backhoe. I wouldn't dare do it without trailer brakes though. That's asking for trouble.

    Rebuild brush deck

The only parts I'm reusing are the tail wheel mount, gear box, blade holder and portions of the three point hookup. I've got a couple pictures but I need to get them off the phone and onto the computer.

    Rebuild brush deck

I've got an old Howse brush deck that is in need of repair. The welds broke free on the front an the deck bent on the front right. I'm going to cut everything apart and make a new deck out of 3/16" steel, original deck is .090" My question is what's the major difference between the square backs...

    New Grapple

Grapples are life and back savers! Once you start using it, you'll rarely take it off. Your neighbors will become your best friends as well.

    L2350 ROPS Lights

I just added lights to my tractor last week. I cut out two brackets on my water jet at work, and tapped the holes on one of the brackets. I could have used u-bolts, but this was cheaper. http://www.orangetractortalks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20788

    Backhoe upgrade

I agree with Bulldog. I have a frame mount backhoe, and while it's nice and convenient, I can't do everything I'd like to. Here's one that is on the Illinois Craigslist. http://stlouis.craigslist.org/for/5115625180.html

    It's always sunny in Florida

Wired up the tractor for lights on Saturday, installed the first three Sunday and the last two this afternoon. I'm impressed with the $9.99 lights I got off Amazon. They are super bright 9 count LED lights. I went with 30 degree for the front and 60 degree for the rear. I also added a 110 degree...

    Removing panel with PTO

I'm trying to get to the bottom of my PTO not reading. Soon as I hit a large stick with the mower it'll read. I took all the bolts out and the rubbers off the 3 point lever and the three aux levers. It seems like the whole PTO switch wants to come with the cover. Is there a trick to getting it...

    L3830 no power

Nearly two months later and all was fine until it wouldn't start after running all day Friday. Changed the ignition switch and still no power. Checked all the grounds and they were fine. Checked the negative and positive wires on the battery and there was the issue. The red wire that has the...

    home made tree cutter

In theory, as long as the engine or PTO RPM's aren't dropping, I shouldn't tear anything up. If I back in slowly and let the momentum of the blades spinning on the 3/4" plate do the work it should be fine. I'm not planning on tackling a 12" pine tree with this. I want to build this to be able to...

    L3830 no power

Tractor started fine yesterday then when I shut it off I couldn't get it to restart. The LCD display isn't coming on, no clicking noise from under the hood. I was able to get the LCD to come back on after turning the key on and off a whole bunch, but never long enough to get the tractor to turn...

    home made tree cutter

Well, I've come up with a plan to make a home made brown manufacturing style tree cutter deck. I've got access to a machine shop with a water jet, so making the blades and various deck plates isn't an issue. My only concern is destroying my tractors pto shaft. I've got an older mower deck that...
