    Rust Busters...

As a Kid, I worked in a junk yard, and learned a lot about removing rusted nuts. Yes, liquid wrench etc can be helpful, but even days of soaking the nuts, sometimes doesn't work. First try tightening the nut, "Righty Tighty-Lefty Loosey", if this gets a little movement, wire brush the exposed...

    Toolbox Upgrade

The ammo boxes are great for holding all the tools you may need in the North 40. Been using ammo boxes for 30 years, myself but the magnetic tray is a very good addition I will use on all my boxes. I am thinking of keeping the trays stuck to the outside until I need it. Thank You for the ideas:)

    Water in hydraulics

It happened twice to my M5700. I thought the water came from pressure washing around the hydraulic dip stick or the vent. I zip tied the dipstick closed, but the zip tie got caught on brambles and broke, at the same time lifting the dip stick and I guess rain got into the hydraulics again. I...

    Hydraulic hoses

Hydraulic hoses are always vulnerable to getting caught on just about anything.I don't buy discount hoses, they are too important.

    Pressure Washing

I used to pressure wash the whole tractor, engine included. One time I washed the rear hydraulic area and the dip stick was forced up above the tube and water got into the hydraulics. Winter came and my M5700 tractor would start fine, but wouldn't move an inch. I waited until the weather warmed...

    15 degrees F no hydraulics

I have the same problem with my 2005 M5700 except everything hydraulically run is OK except the tractor won't move. I put a 500 Watt work light under the filter section, as close as I can get it 2 hours ago and nothing yet. It is in an unheated garage and the inside thermometer registers about 9...

Is there hope for the younger generations.

I have to keep reminding myself of my youth. I knew nothing of what America was like before I was born and I don't expect any more from the present generation, all I can say is, our parents are what made us what we are today and my parents never stopped being great parents and i don't mean ones...

New orange paint on FDR 1672 mower

You are more ambitious than me, so, you can see where this post comes from. I power wash (avoid the hydrolic dip stick and vent area) then use a pre-paint cleaner before applying paint, after paint has dried and cured, I apply an automotive paint sealant (easy but expensive) and this will keep...

Keeping find air in fuel filter in M9540

Right on Daren! The same thing happened to me on my ZD25 and all I could find was a fuel line with a 1/4" split on one end after I replaced the filter. Changed the line and the problem was solved.

    Overheating M5700

been wiping out briars, kudzu, grape vines, etc. in rough country (typically New England) with a 3000 lb grapple in front of my M5700 and running engine very slowly in 1st gear, low range, 4 wheel drive and after about 1 hour of work it starts to overheat. The water fill bottle is full, radiator...

    Rotary or Flail mower..

I agree with Wolfman, I have been keeping 15 acres clear with a 84" Woods rotary cutter for about 25 yrs and I believe the flail would not be bothered with the uneven ground and rocks.
