So, I finally bought my first Kubota

The Operator's Manual doesn't really give a maximum rear ballast, but does list 420# as an implement weight used as a ballast. So I went with 420# of ballast plus loaded rear tires and I am comfortable handling all the weight the fel will pick up. I also have rear 3" spacers to increase...

    Balls of Steel

Such a unique find definitely requires a uniquely Rube Goldberg use. Maybe suspend them from the ROPs so they gently bang into your head when the tractor is leaning over to far.

Newbie not wanting to make a mistake...

In southern Ohio with only a 100 yd driveway you might consider a rear blade for snow plowing. It will cost less and be easier to control. A front blade will push the front of your tractor opposite the blade angle. You can leave the fel on with a rear blade and use the fel to help with snow...

Pto saw or gas powered saw attachment

I think he mentioned thorns, he might not want to get closer then 6' to the trunk and a 6' bar would be a lot of chain saw.

    Front ballast question…

Visibility is usually not an issue for grading and the fel is useful for grading anyway. When grading the driveways and shared roads with my grader scraper, I often use the the fel for touch-up grading on road ends and intersections. The fel is a lot handier for leveling out a left over pile...

OK - what "NOT" to do

That reminds me of a power plan operator who put on a harness and hoisted himself over a cooling tower pump pit with the overhead crane. He was washing down the pumps with a hose and wand, but dropped the crane control box. The supervisor went looking for him a couple of hours later and...

    Jumpstarting

When you jump a vehicle with a dead battery, the dead battery soaks up a lot of the power. That's why you usually have to have the vehicle supplying the power running. A BX does not have a very big alternator and could be overloaded trying to start a vehicle with a dead battery. Should not be...

Hydraulic top link vs side link

Sorry for the delay its that time of year. This is where I got my hydraulic top link with check valves. http://www.haytools.com/TNT.htm You probably have more options with a slightly bigger tractor. I would still consider a throttle valve to lock the tilt cylinder unless you have a need to...

Hydraulic top link vs side link

I started with a plain cylinder for a top link on my BX and had to add a throttle valve for speed control. I then had the same problem with the cylinder not holding, however I found that by closing the throttle valve the cylinder would hold the position. This indicates that the remote control...

Hydraulic top link vs side link

I installed the Kubota BX rear remotes on my Bx2370 and have a hydraulic top link. Your biggest problem will be finding cylinders short enough to use for the top link or side link on a BX tractor. I still have not found a side link for my BX2370 and am not willing to pay to have one built to fit.

    B2650 Snow Removal

A rear blade and your fel is a workable solution for the least cost. Go with it for this winter and make a more experienced/educated decision next year. Since you have a paved driveway you probably do not need a rear blade for grading so a lightweight inexpensive blade will work.

Disconnecting from land pride quick hitch

Having the top link adjusted so an implement is level front to back does make it easier to drop the implement off of a quick hitch. When just the front or rear of an implement is on the ground there is enough of a bind in the quick hitch hooks to keep the 3 point hitch from lowering. On larger...

    BX2370 Snowblower

Most (probably all) front mount snowblowers are brand specific because there is no generic mounting system for the front of the tractor. The 3 point system on the back of the tractor provides a generic mounting system so most rear mount snowblowers will fit on any 3 point mount if sized...

    Snowblower Dryer and Polebarn Heater?

I am surprised you have a problem with your snowblower icing up. Although I have a heated garage the tractor stays in the old unheated garage. I usually spend a few minutes clearing the snow out of the blower and put the tractor away and have never had a problem. Luckily the newer BX5455...

    Snowblower Dryer and Polebarn Heater?

Sheepfarmer Would it be possible to enclose and insulate the area around the tractor. Before I added heat to my insulated garage, the temperature in the garage remained around 32F during the winter. Even when it would go down to -20F outside the temperature inside the garage would remain...

    Snowblower Dryer and Polebarn Heater?

If you are looking at a permanent mount heater, this line of radiant heater looks good. This one is mislabeled in their ad at 4.8 kw actually it is 3.2 kw, they also have a 4.8 kw unit: https://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200446411_200446411 The 3.2 kw heater would easily heat the...

    Snowblower Dryer and Polebarn Heater?

Radiant heaters, heat objects not the air so they would work well for your application. I installed a large propane radiant heater in my garage two years ago and maintain my well insulated garage at 50F all winter. When the garage door opens I don't lose as much heat as I would with a...

    Daylight saving time

When I think of all the life altering changes in 69 years, the effort of changing the clock twice a year sort of pales in comparison. For example, how do you compare changing from rotary dial phones to smart phones, to changing the clock twice a year? And for the time challenged Polish, a lot...
