Re: Location of M4500 Block Heater

Maybe if you could find a heater that size but I've never seen one for core plugs that small. The petcock is threaded, if Kubota sells a threaded heater for the M4500 it's likely the same thread just...

Re: Location of M4500 Block Heater

The port is hidden a little by the oil filter. I have a bypass hose attached to mine that used to supply the cab heat.

Re: Location of M4500 Block Heater

I've got a WSM. There is no mention and no picture of the threaded port on my S2600 engine in the manual, but it's there just the same. If I get a chance later today I'll take a picture.

Re: Location of M4500 Block Heater

Freeze plugs on both sides of block on my M4500 but they're too small (1 inch +/-) for any heater's I've ever seen. There is a threaded port to the coolant passage on the right side of the block at...

Re: Need some tractor 101 info please!

Yep, $700 is a deal (or was that steal, belonged to a little old widow lady right?).
Will diesel go bad? I suppose, but it takes a loooong time. When I bought my M4500 a few years ago it had sat in...

Re: Pellet stoves

RCW, yeah right now probably close on wood pellets but no contest with corn.
Price per 1,000,000 BTU
Corn @ 3.50 bu - $7.81
Pellets at 4.89/bag - $15.28 @ $180/ton - 11.25
LP @ $1.40 - $15.40...

Re: Pellet stoves

Ha! Just noticed RCW's post and the pic of the dog. That's the only problem with our stove... everybody has to fight with the dog for the best spot in front of the corn stove on cold evenings! She'll...

Re: Pellet stoves

Little late to the topic here but we have a TP40 Earth Stove that we've had since 1990. We burn straight shelled corn in it, 175-200 bu. a year for the last 27 years except a few years back when corn...

Re: GR2100 reliability?

Yeah, but if you're faced with the prospect of dumping a couple grand at a dealer into a "mower" repeatedly for mechanical problem that is likely to recur then there is a point where cut quality and...

Re: GR2100 reliability?

Quick update on this question. So... a nearby Kubota dealer basically implied don't take it if they offer to give it to you! "We have 3 of them sitting in the lot at our other store because customers...

GR2100 reliability?

So a local implement dealer has a GR2100 with about 250 hours on it (Gas v-twin) it's really clean and appears well cared for. I've read though that the tranny, pto clutch, and glide-steer system can...

Re: Cheap-er Rear Ballast

My rims have the typical 4 hole set-up for weight attachment. +/- 16 inch centers measuring across. The first weight goes on using 2 5/8 grade 5 bolts (3 inches long I think). The second weight goes...

Cheap-er Rear Ballast

So one of the few complaints I have with my M4500 is that it is light in the rear-end. This is only a problem when plowing (3-14 mounted) or pulling a 10 foot JD no-till drill. But at those times...

Re: M4500 Hydraulic problem

You're right, your 4500 doesn't have a suction screen. The "canister filter" on the right side of the tractor at about the rear of the engine +/- is the screen. It is a VERY fine mesh, there's a...

Re: Regard to check chains or 3 pt stabilizers

Now that is a 3-point that's been seriously abused. I'm trying to figure out exactly how the down links can get bent up that bad and nothing was broken.
Try Tractor Supply, Rural King or someplace...

Re: Bad alternator? What do you guys think?

I'm supposing you checked the running voltage at something more than an idle. I know on my M4500 it won't start charging until after the engine goes past 15-1700 the first time (it'll then charge...

Re: Yes..another newbie owner post.

Put water in it and see if it will start. No big deal to fix a water pump if it runs and doesn't have water in the exhaust or oil.
Dad had a 63 1/2 when I was little - black. I cried when he sold...

Re: R-4 or R-1(Ag) for Plowing w/L2501

So this is a 2500 lb. +/- tractor with 18 drawbar HP (as tested) with four wheel drive. Assuming your tires are in acceptable condition and that the plow is adjusted properly. And since you've...

Re: cylinder sticks/stops

Ditto what Wolfman said. Chased a problem on a 1 year old 1590 JD no-till drill for a week one time just to discover it was a bad coupler. It'd be rare to have a bad one on each pair of remotes...

Re: PTO Operation

I have a 1982 M4500, same PTO set-up. You will not use the "ground" pto. no reason to with any implement you'll buy in the US.
On the under seat lever the center position is neutral (no working PTO...

Re: CCA vs MCA

I've had a deep cycle marine battery in my M4500 for over 6 years now (knock on wood) and it's been trouble free. The slow discharge rate is nice when I forget to shut the key off and the dash lights...

Re: M4500 year manufactured

Yeah, the 1982 date comes from the City's paperwork. It had all of 900 hours on it when I bought it just over 6 years ago. It hadn't been moved for 5 years and we put a battery in it, started it, and...

I have M4500-10046
Thought I had the original delivery information to the City of Columbus, that had the dates on it, but I can't seem to find it.

Re: Main bearing

Try turning it around. On my S2600 motor there is a "front" and a "Back" for each bearing case. Make sure both halves of the bearing carrier are facing the right direction when you bolt it together....
