New to the forum and have a question that I have ask elsewhere. I recently purchased a BX2370 with FEL & MMM. I am looking to get a brush hog. Many have said it will handle a 48" fine even though the manual states 42" and 309 pounds. The weight issue is what is getting me.
I have looked at a lot of cutters. Big Bee has a 42" that weighs about 310. Kodiak has a 40" that weighs 396. Most all 48" units I have seen are in the 410-450 range. Obviously the Kodiak would most likely handle some heavier stuff.
The outside width of the tires on my BX is about 43". So a 42" cutter will work fine for me width wise, but finding one is like finding chicken teeth. I have discovered that 48" are hard to find used.
Another thing is I have some slopes that I will have to navigate with the cutter.
Any input or advice is appreciated.

I agree the 4' ones are hard to find used,I let one slip by last summer that looks like new but at the time i thought i might want a 5. Now that I'm set on a 4 there nowhere to be found. That Big Bee looks like it was designed with your tractor in mind.

King Kutter makes a bush hog designed for subcompacts. If you plan to run a bush hog on slope I'd leave the loader on for balance and support.

FWIW, my dealer recommended a land pride RCR1548. (4' rotary cutter). I used it in my field last weekend. I couldn't get it to bog down. Even at reduced RPM's, it just cut everything in it's path. I have the BX 2670.

Look at their website and it is matched to the BX line. Check to see what they recommend for your BX.

I use a 48" Land Pride on our BX2200 and 2660, Woods makes a 42" in their RCC42.

I have a bx 25 and bought a 5ft land pride rough cut mower. It is pretty heavy but if you get some dirt in your bucket leave it low to ground you won't have trouble

I have the same 48" mower as smittydog, a Land Pride RCR1548, also recommended by my dealer. My BX2360 handles it easily. The dealer recommended it over the 42" mower because the blade tip speed is higher and you'll get a better cut.

I also mow on slopes and added 2" wheel spacers and filled the tires. This was also recommended by the dealer and I never tried it without the spacers/water, but it has proven to be very stable. Still, work the slopes up and down, instead of cross-slope, as much as possible.
